we have my daughters friend living with us.. now is is 18yrs old and would like to become legally a member of our family. my husband and i are touched by this :) i couldnt find anything in our state about adopting older children. would like to do it by mothers day any suggestion what we can do?

Hello, that is very sweet!

I think what you need to do, is go to the court house, and fill out the papers. You don;t need a lawyer, because she is of age.

I think it costs around $250-$350 or so to adopt an older person. I know this, because my husbands step father was talking about adopting him, even though he is over 40, I guess he wanted him to feel more a part of the family? But, it never happened. Not sure why?
