HI TRISHA,
I DO FEEL THE SAME WAY AT TIMES AND MY SON IS 20. PLEASE READ MY RESPONSE TO POPCYCICLES AND MY HEADING GRADUATION/HELP WHAT'S NEXT. MAYBE THERE WILL BE SOME DATA THAT WILL HELP.IF I WERE JUST STARTING OUT ON THE ROAD TO AUTISM/ I WOULD PUSH PAST ANY AND I MEAN ANY, ROAD BLOCK MY CHILD WOULD HAVE PUT UP!!! WITH FOOD, GOING PLACES, CHORES, WHATEVER! INSTEAD OF TRYING TO LIVE AROUND HIS AUTISTIC WORLD, I'VE LEARNED BY WATCHING AND TALKING TO OTHER PARENTS, MAKE THEM PART OF YOUR WORLD(EVEN IF THEY DON'T LIKE IT FOR MOST KIDS WILL FIGHT YOU AND AUTISTIC KIDS ARE SO SMART! THEY LEARN TO USE THAT AUTISTIC LABEL TO THEIR ADVANTAGE, EVERY CHANCE THEY GET! DO IT WHILE THEY AND YOU ARE YOUNG!!!
YOU ARE NOT ALONE TRISHA, I'LL BE THINKING OF YOU
WRITE BACK IF YOU CAN, KAREN

FRI,JUNE23,06 HI TRISHA,
WE ALL GET STUCK IN THOSE DAYS AND SOMETIMES IT'S HARD TO GET OUT OF THOSE FEELINGS.
I BELIEVE A BURDEN SHARED,( BECOMES HALF THE WEIGHT). JUST KNOWING SOMEONE IN THE UNIVERSE HEARD US, CAN PULL US UP AND LIFT OUR DAY, TO A BETTER PLACE.
THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO REPLY.

Trisha,
I have many of these days and I know what you mean by feeling you are losing him to autism. I found found much solace in my local support group. this will help you to talk with other parents who are going through the same thing. My heart goes out to you.

Dr. Amy Yasko may be a source of help regarding aggession. She is helping people find out their genetic weaknesses and then she helps them counteract them with supplements. Certain genetic mutations do tend to cause aggression. Also... there are things that might be calming... magnesium citrate, valerian. But don't supplement until you research. Try to find a good holistic MD or chiropractor or find someone really knowledgable in a health food store. :)

Jack's story....

After the 12 mos. vaccines my son gradually slipped into autism. He was head-banging, hand-flapping, twirling, lost speech, lost eye contact and he just withdrew.

Now two years later.... no head-banging, no twirling, no flapping, has eye contact and is starting to verbalize again. And... he has Down Syndrome to boot. :) Yes... even kids with DS get autism. Actually they get it at a higher rate.

What helped him? First I give God praise.... our son wouldn't be here without Him and we prayed and I believe He guided us. Second... supplements. Especially cod liver oil. I recommend Green Pastures CLO with the X factor. Check out Dr. Mary Megson's work on the web. http://www.diet-studies.com/megson.html Our Jack healed gradually... but he is healing. I actually had to make myself GET USED TO him not twirling everything any more!

Also check out Dr. Amy Yasko's work. www.holistichealth.com

We give Jack alot of supps - cod liver oil, probiotic, magnesium citrate, tart cherry and recently we added cilantro. He takes some other things too but each child is unique. It helps to find a good naturopathic MD or chiropractor. Don't use supps until you research things for yourself. Cilantro for example...should possibly not be used until some other detox has been done.

Don't give up. There is hope! And... I will be frank here.... many mainstream doctors know squat about how to heal autism. Don't let that throw you. There are people who do know how to help. God bless you! Love, Jack's Mom :) [email protected]
