Hi Everyone! My name is Heidi and im a mother to a 4 year old with PDDNOS. He was Diagnosed at 2 years 9 months. It feels like such a long time ago. At first it was very distressing and also just made us say "oh so thats why he does this or that!". It is nice to read about some of your experiences and questions, it makes me feel less alone in the world. Kairo has recently begun to talk, which is such a joy after such a long period of near to no progress. He is very rapidly increasing his vocubulary and very gradually increasing his understanding, which is sometimes a funny mixture. He has picked up the word "Dammit!" to my dismay, but he doesnt understand that there are appropriate and innapropriate words and there is no way for me to explain it to him, im just waiting for him to say it during church. I guess that would be better than the large belch he let out in the middle of sacrament meeting last week, then he says "i burped" and laughed! Kairo struggles a lot with his communication and social skills. It is heartbreaking to watch him trying to interact with the neighborhood kids. He will just follow them and copy what they do, most kids find this annoying and weird, some boss him around and do mean things to him. He wants so badly to play with other children, and often I think he doesnt realize when other kids are being mean to him but it sure ticks me off! Kairo is about to begin his last year of special needs preschool, depending on the progress he makes he may be attending regular kindergarten but I am more concerned about him being where he is going to get the specialized teaching he needs. Anyways, I just wanted to introduce us to all of you. Anyone with any questions, comments is welcome to reply or if you want to get in closer contact you can e mail me at [email protected]. Thanks for reading!

Hi Heidi, I'm Amy and my little boy Callum is 4 and has autism, he also wants so badly to interact with his younger cousin but does'nt know how to and it breaks my heart cos they are very close in age and could have been so close, Callum also finds burbing and ''other'' things funny like farting, and I can only laugh when he does!!!!!
