hi i have a 6 year old girl with austim. i hope it turns out o.k GOOD LUCK!!!! ↑ |
hi beht, if you get a chance , would you mind sharing some information about your child. my daughter is believed to have PDD b/c she is high functioning as far as being very verbal. though she does have many communication problems, doesn't know how to pretend/imaginative play , has difficulty playing and interacting with other children, doesn't know the difference between talking to a cat, child or adult, it's all the same to her. she just turned six yrs old and cannot write any letters or read anything. only recognizes signs and shapes. does not like to be touched much and i am the only person she will hug or let hold her . she is deathly afraid of animals and screams, covers her ears , sweats, like a panic attack. especially with birds even though she has never been around any. she will only eat a hand full of foods. no vegetables. will sit and cut paper and rip paper for hours, destroys anything that is made of paper including books, movie cover boxes. she only will watch the disney channel and is obsessive about it, watching for hours on end. movies she likes are the same way, over and over again. she once watched "are we there yet" at her fathers house six times in a row . her father is a whole other issue because he thinks there is nothing wrong with her. he says she is just a little slow and will grow out of her issues. so doing all of this on my own is fun, but i'm actually used to it. it's been that way since the day she was born. i joined a support group this week and it was very helpful. it was the first time in a long time that i didn't feel so alone. thanks for your reply. if you get a chance write back. lisa ↑ |
