I'm nursing my 17 month old and this is my first foray into the world of nursing a toddler. With his siblings who I nursed till 12 months and in the first 12 months of his life I felt let down while feeding him- sometimes twice in one session. Now sometimes I don't feel it at all. Am I not having let down with every feed any more? Or am I just not feeling it?

Hi Dana!

I think as they become more familiar with the world of solids, they do not need to nurse as strongly, so therefore our production is down a bit, and there really isn't any need for a 'letdown'

I am nursing my 3 yr old yet, ofcourse not as strongly as when she was younger. I haven't felt those let down feelings since I can't remember when, probably sometime after year one.

As a side note: are you familiar with the book "Mothering your Nursing Toddler" by Norma Jane Bumgarner?
