how old is your baby? you should not give any thing but breastmilk or formula until after 6 months of age. if you introduce solids too early it can cause allergies and digestive problems. please wait until your baby is 6 months old at least. you really never need to give cereal at all. i think that it is a waste of money, it is basically just a filler. if you are nursing the your baby doesn't need the iron, they get that from you. even after you introduce solids breastmilk should be the majority of a babies diet until 1 yr of age. before 1 solids are just for fun and practice. babies can survive on just breastmilk for a long time. i know a few people that have babies that are still exclusivly nursing a 2 yr old. they children have developmetal problems and if their mothers weren't nursing would probably be on a feeding tube of some kind. so i know for a fact that they can survive for quite a while on just nursing. like i said earlier though, please don't give a baby younger than 6 months of age anything except breastmilk or formula. ↑ |

opps i just not read that your title said your baby is 7 1/2 months sorry. some babies are just more advanced than others. it is completly normal for your baby to be choking on baby food or cereal, he just isn't ready yet. maybe he just doesn't like the texture. i tried baby food with my son but ended up just going strait to table food(smushed a little at first) and he gobbled it right up. he would gag and choke like i was trying to kill him when i gave him food from a jar. but if i gave him some crackers or whatever i was eating he ate like a champ. ↑ |

My son is only 3 months, but I have a baby food mill I am going to use. Try homemeade food rather than the jar stuff. I took a class on making it and it's really easy. ↑ |

Hey!!! Your baby is probably fat and happy.... Let him nurse as long as he wants. There is a fabulous book "So That's What They're For" by Judy Tomara. Continueto offer him food.. yogurt, smashed bananas, mashed potatoes... just put it on his tray and let him explore... he will figure it out.... Women in India and Africa nurse to the age of three or four. We should all be so lucky to have "perfect food". As long as he is pooping, peeing and gaining weight.. don't stress, one day he'll decide he wants a hotdog. ↑ |

I have a similar issue. My girl wont eat solids either.. She is fine nursing exclusively.. I checked with the Dr cause she also gags and she is fine. My daughter is 8 1/2 months and still no solids. I read and my Dr told me it was ok to nurse till 12 months without solids. ↑ |
