i had a moment of weakness about a half hour ago and smoked less than half a cigarette. my baby is breastfed and i don't know what to do, can i still feed her at her next feeding or should i give her formula. i feel so guilty and am so mad at myself for giving in and i don't know what to do now. i will definitely not give in to temptation again, i want the best for my baby and feel so awful, i quit the day the test came out positive. what should i do, she ate and fell asleep and thats when i gave in and walked outside and took a few puffs, she will want to eat again in an hour or two what do i do????????????????????????????????

There is nothing to worry about, feed baby like normal. It is actually better to breastfeed when a woman smokes than not (doesn't that say a lot about both breastmilk and the inaptitude of formula). That does not mean that you should start back smoking though. You are doing awesome, keep up the good work!

thank you for putting my mind at ease. i ended up giving her formula for her next feeding because i was so nervous but then continued to breastfeed for the feeding after that. the guilt has stuck with me and i won't be touching another cigarette.
