this probably sounds like a dumb question but.. is it possible to just pump instead of direct baby to breast feeding. will it prevent nipples from being sore.

To answer your first question-yes. women who work outside the home sometimes exclusively pump.

second question-no. A pump still pulls your nipples and works at them, and i can tell you-a babys mouth feels much better than rubber.

Breat feeding is beneficial on mnay levels, but I find that as far as bonding with your baby there's nothing better. I enjoy cuddling with my little boy (3 weeks old) while nursing him. I enjoyed the`same closeness with my other three children as well.
Bottle feeding is fine-bottle feeding breast milk is great-but nursing directly allows the baby to be closer and I think it's wonderful.

Hello, I am no expert . However I have 2 1/2 year old twins that I breast fed for 5 months. Towards the end I was basically just using my electric pump and it seemed as if I wasn't producing as much milk as if the girls were nursing. I think the baby stimulates the milk supply better than a pump. Now I have a 3 month old and am nursing again. I hope to last longer than 5 months. It should be easier this time though. Good Luck.
