OK so I showed up for court after the date had been changed 4 times and to no surprise, the ex wasn't there. Before I was even in front of the judge the ex's lawyer and I had already started a lil' tif because I didn't want to continue when she wanted to and because he had scheduled his vacation with the girls on the court date!!!!!!! Well, we stood there infront of the judge as he went over the papers and decided that we would continue the case because he didn't know if he was out of town and didn't have his W2 or work statement there in court and I also found out that he is going to try to fight for custody for he doesn't want to pay child support. (Update) He has a trailor on his parent's land and they are building a house right behind him and they watch the children when they are visiting in N.C. They are 9 and 11. His parent's have moved everywhere he has been or v/versa, and have paid for his high dollar lawyer (Point) He's a mommys boy and I'm glad I'm out! Just asking for some advise on how to get this taken care of as quick as possible from some Hot Mama's Everywhere!

Carissa,
Do you have an attorney? Your attorney is supposed to demand W-2's, tax returns ,etc. In fact..modifications in our state do not happen without them. An attorney...even though it costs...gets it done quicker. Even court appointed attorneys are supposed to demand this info. and work for YOU!

Unfortunately...modifications don't happen very fast. Ours took 6 mos. to take effect...and...3 mos. after everything was signed and sealed by the judge. I'm sorry he is holding things up...they don't realize how it affects everyone...especially the kids!! I'll tell you this...in most cases...if Mom is the custodial parent...it generally goes her way. But, by the same token..I need to be brutally honest...if his parents are paying for his "high dollar attorney" I'm so sorry to say..it could be a battle. I wish you the best...and hang in there. You don't have to "agree" to anything that you don't think is in yours or your kids best interest! Have a good one!

Lory, Thank you for the recent write. I have actually had attorneys in the past and they seem to do more harm than good especially in NC. I know that it's probably my imagination at times but on the other hand my most recent lawyer caught my "x" in lies and actually perjured himself on the stand and the judge told my lawyer pretty much to sit down and shut up! No joke....... I guess I can be gullable at times and expect the good guy to come out on top, but this is the real world and I just need to buckle down and really find a good Bull dog. I need to find a lawyer that actually has lunch with the judge too!

Your welcome....your not gullable. The good guy does actually finish first...it just takes alot of lasts to get there..lol! Most attorney's have lunch w/each other or the judges. Thats why we always ended up on the bottom so to speak..no matter how much of a bulldog he/she was. It's all about the $$$ (benjamins) to all of em. Good Luck to you!
