How can I get over the feeling of being an over rated babysitter? I do everything for my boyfriends kids their mom does nothing but step in for the glory. I sign them up for all their sports, get them everything they need, go on field trips, conferences, get them when their sick, or when she has to work. She steps in when their getting awards and she needs to feel important. I have my boyfriend ask her for a copy of their birthcertificates and we get a response that said you can get your copy at the vital statistics, but if not I'm willing to help out. What a bitch. I do all the leg work and she acts like she is going out of her way to help if we really need it. I told my boyfriend we could just order it, but I continue to try and be polite to her and continue to get shit on. Gosh I am so freakin done. I've only been with him for a year and a half I did not know I was signing up for this. One day is good the next day I am a wreck. How do I make it stop.

ok if I wanted to think about fixing it how would I go about it? I have a great life with him, but am not sure I want to continue it witht her crap. I was a happy go lucky person now I am depressed and unsure of things. So if you dont mind "here to help" if you have more advice would love to hear it

I would suggest mediation. You, the ex, and your husband all together with a mediator. The most important people in the situation is the kids. They need to be able to love you, and their dad all they want to, without feeling like they are doing something wrong. It sounds to me like the ex is jealous, because she thinks you are "replacing" her. Totally not true, from what I've read. Who cares if they like you, and get along with you? They weren't treating their mom any different once you came along were they? Good luck with it all.

I doubt that things will get easier. She might some day admit how much she needs and apprecaites your help, but you will probobly always do alot and she will get the glory because she is their mom. It sucks but thats how it is. If there is one job harder than being a parent its being a step parent. Talk to your guy and let him know how you feel, if anything it will help if he keeps telling you how much all you do for the kids means to him. Also remember you are dong good things for these kids, things that they might not get to do if you weren't around. I have been in your shoes for many years. Sometimes you get a little smile, a thanks, but usualy you do becuase you want the kids to be happy. When its all said and done, no matter what any ones says or thinks. As the kids get older, wiser, smarter kinder, you my dear will know that you had a hudge part in it, and that is a big reward.good luck hon. Stay strong
