3 weeks from today I will have my new baby boy. :-) I saw my doctor today and she scheduled my c-section for May 13th. She also checked me again and said I'm almost 2cm dilated and very soft. She said my cervix is still funneling and she could feel my bag of water bulging so it's still possible for my water to break and start labor prior to the c-section date. If that happened they would do my c-section at that point. 3 weeks is so close yet so far away, I'm getting anxious! :-)

First off YAY CONGRATS I can't wait for your birth story!!!!

Rosey after coming to this site I was thinking the same thing......it seems like there are wayyyyy more c-sections than vag. births imo a c-sec should only be done if needed but by choice.......no way.......also I noticed most women if you have ever read any of the blogs get induced......hmmmm......I am guilty of being induced myself but wow alot of ppl are doing it

Yeah - I agree about the c sections. It's only emergency c sections which are done over here. It's only done electively if there is an extremely good reason why i.e. breech baby, pre eclampsia, multiples ...

Oh! and lol. I was replying to the replies rather than to the original post!! How rude!

Congrats! It'll all go brilliantly. You must be so excited!

Nicole-I am ready...finally. I have my bag, Kadin's bag and a diaper bag all packed, the crib and changing table are all ready to go, lol, all that we need is the baby, lol. :-) I decided to skip the use of a bassinet this time around and go straight for the crib. We used one for my son and he was never a great sleeper, we struggled with that so this time we are starting with the crib so hopefully he will adjust to it from the beginning. 7 weeks will fly by. :-)

M25 and Briseis-thanks for the congrats, I'm getting really excited. :-)

Yep. We call bassinets moses baskets over here, and Joey only used his for 11 weeks, so it was a complete waste of money! I thought it'd last at least 3 months, but nope.

Ah I love new little babies. They're so tiny and sleepy and milky. Awwwwwwww. I'm getting all broody!

Now the reasons for the c-section...With my first born I was in labor for 16 hours and pushed for between 4-5 hours being told every hour that his head wasn't coming down and I would need a c-section. I pushed with everything I had because I absolutely did not want anything but a vaginal birth. After all that, due to my pre-eclampsia and that fact that he wasn't coming down I was given a c-section because they needed to get the baby out for his health. When I became pregnant this time I intended on having a vbac and my doctor (civilian doctor this time, not army) supported me 100%. After my first exam she told me that my pelvic bone narrows to a very small opening which is why my son never came down, even with that she told me if I wanted to try a vbac that was fine, but I had to know there was a very likely chance I would end up with a c-section. So at that point I was going to try a vbac. Then later on I was told I had a low lying placenta which at this point has moved a very slight amount and they think it should be fine, but there's still that chance that it could be too close. With a combination of everything and a few other things my doctor and I were talking and she said she felt it was in the best interest of both my health and the baby's to plan on a c-section. I am going to do whatever is best for my baby's health and knew that I would more than likely end up with a c-section anyways, so my husband and I talked and agreed it would probably be for the best. I have a 4 year old little boy and this little boy who is on his way and the thought of something going wrong with the placenta and me bleeding out scares me to no end, the thought of something going wrong with the c-section (because I had a bad experience at the military hospital with my first one) scares me to death as well, but in the end, I had to make a decision and even thought it's not the way I planned either deliveries, I've realized that things don't always go as planned. So that is the reason why I am having a c-section.

Ah your first baby is 4, that's the way we want to do it, wait till Joey is 4 before having another baby. I had a friend who went through a similar experience to your first delivery. She went into labour and laboured for 20 hours, pushed for 2 hours, baby wouldn't budge, they tried forceps, vacuum, everything. No good, so she ended up having an emergency c section.

We wanted our kids closer in age and tried for a long time to become pregnant both times, but this is how it worked out and I think it will be good, I was worried about the age difference at first, but Kadin is so excited and is old enough to be more involved then if he were younger so I'm hoping for the best. I hope the age difference doesn't put a strain on their relationship, I would love for them to be very close with each other.

I'm sure they will. With us, it's a choice to wait. Because we're moving city hopefully this year, then we're gonna plan our wedding, and hopefully get married in 2 years time. And of course, I want my career to have the chance to develop further before having a second baby.

I completely understand why you would want to wait for a second baby. The closer it gets to having this one, the more I am glad there is a age difference because Kadin has become pretty independent and doesn't need me to do everything for him, he can use the bathroom by himself, which I'm glad I won't have 2 in diapers, lol, he can sit down and color or go in his room and play blocks, etc. I think it will be good. :-)
