Hi girls! I'm 34 weeks pregnant with my first child. I've been feeling fine throughout my pregnancy for the most part. I am on iron supplements of 65 mg, 325 ferrous sulfate for being slightly anemic. I've been taking those supplements for about 2 weeks now. However, within the past couple of days I am soooooooooooo tired. I have to force myself to get out of bed otherwise I probably wouldn't. I just don't feel like I have any energy and my eyes are always heavy. Is this normal to experience extreme fatigue this late in pregnancy? Or could it just be that even though I'm taking iron supplements...I'm becoming more anemic because the baby is getting bigger. Please reply! Has anyone else experienced this type of fatigue? I just feel pretty crappy! Thanks for listening!

Your pregnant..... that says alot... the iron medication should be helping w/the anemia which causes fatigue..I know from my past pregnancy, I was severly anemic, to the point I was blacking out, I started taking Slow Fe, which is an iron medication you can buy over the counter, it made a world of difference in me. Make sure you are taking your vitamins also, that plays a big roll. Get enough sleep, try taking naps if possible.

I am 34W pregnant with my first child (girl), and I am on iron-folic supplement since the 5th week. I have asked my doctor if the iron supplement has any side effects and he spoke to me about the fatigue and the need to sleep (especially throughout 1st. trimester and after the 7th month). Very important also, is the weight gain (I have added already 15! kilos), because it effects your skeleton, spinal cord, hip-bones, and legs. It is natural to feel tired, but it's nothing to worry about. Try to swallow your supplements with orange juice (not the market-one, but fresh orange squeeze), because it makes your system absorb ALL the iron the supplement gives you, and don't eat ANYTHING until at least 1 hour passes since you took the medication. Try to add plenty of veal meat in your diet, liver, green veggies with large leaves (lettuce, spinach, beet-root), and rest as much as you can (especially if you have swollen legs - edema). The date is close, so a little more patience is what you need... so do I. Imagine, the doctor told me to walk as much as I can, but I can barely drag myself from the bed to a chair, because my legs are ready to burst, I have no ankles since the third month, and since the 30th week, my left leg has such a serious edema, that it became completely stiff, so I limp my way to the bathroom or to wherever I need to be. I feel crappy most of the time, and I hide from my husband to cry alone, to let go some of the stress and the uselessness I feel, cause I can't - I don;t feel like actually - move. Be patient, and it will all end soon... as long as you will have a gorgeous little one in your arms, you will forget everything!!!!
