I know thats stupid, but I cant help it, Im nervous. This is my first baby so Im not sure what to expect. Does being induced hurt, take longer, make labor worse, better..... Hey there i've been induced before. I have 3 kids myself due with a fourth on Oct. 20. It does hurt a little but your strong and just think you'll be holding that little girl before you know it. As far as an epidural they are definetly a good idea.

being induced is supossed to make you have your baby..lol..of course it doesnt take longer. make labor worse?!? your asking some weird questions...lol...when they induce you, you basically are about to have your baby so that is your labor. good luck on that. i hope that everything goes good for you. i cant wait to meet my baby either but mines not due until feb. i have a doctors appointment oct 17th too. oh yea...epidual is fiine, just remember to stay still when they do it because it they are an inch off, results cannot be too good. they do it right 99%of the time, but do what they say. it hurts but just clutch your hands or something. having a needle in your back is way better than feeling your baby come out of your vagina. but when they say that your about to have it, i would tell them to lay off the epidual drip so that you can feel yourself pushing your baby. if you cant feel anything then you dont know how to control your muscles and they might have to force the baby out, so you want to feel it a little. no one wants to really feel the pain, but thats the joy of having a child..lol..but when she comes out, im sure all your worries will go away...

The contraction with Pitocin are stronger than normal ones. (My youngest was an induction, with no anesthetic at all)

Have an epidural-don't worry about anything, you'll push that little girl out, and it will be wonderful!!

Girlie, that is an awsome day!!!!! My sone Josaiah will be 8 that day and it is a very special day...you see when I was 5 months pregnant with him in 1997, I found out that he had spina bifida. I was homeless and plus had a 2 yr old and felt the world on my shoulders....on October 17th, 1997, I was scheduled for a c- section and I was terrified!!!!!! I didn't know whether my son was gonna live for a second or a minute or what..he had hydrocephelis too, and the counselors and family memebers and even friends told me I should have an abortion, but I wouldn't , I don't believe in them....My son Josaiah is a true blessing!!!!!!! He has toaught me and my family and even people I don't even know so many things!!!!! He is paralyzed from the waist down, but oh boy!!! The kid never stays still ...unless he is sleep..and he is in 1st grade and loves scool, buses, and Andy Griffith...lol.....So hon, don't be nervous your baby will be fine and getting an epidural is not that bad either... my first and third was vaginal and my third....I was induced with the third (walking around helped me) and had the epidural with the first and third....girlie you will be just fine and while we are here singing "happy birthday", you will be singing happy birthday too.....hope this helped you some...I will say thank you cause your forum brought back some awsome memories!!!! God Bless.

My OB is inducing me on tuesday, this will also be my first. After feeling the same feelings I talked with my sister (mother of 3) and she was induced with her oldest. She told me to try and refrain from or hope to have the baby before then because they give you pitocin to induce the contractions after breaking your water and that generally increases the intensity of the contractions, and it sometimes takes longer, but with it being a first...its not like you could tell a difference to anything...do keep in mind EVERYONES DIFFERENT! and let me know how everything goes for you! good luck!
