Yeah I had the morning after pill once. It is not too vile, this was a few years ago in a similar cirumstance, the only thing I will say is ask your chemist/pharmacist about the effects if you are breastfeeding, perhaps you will need to express a bit before hand for bub, and my period came early that month, it can put you out of whack a little.

So weird that happened to me the day before yesterday.

So yesterday I called my doc' and she's on holidays. My other doc' is on academic leave and the guy that's filling in wasn't able to see me.

So I called the local STI clinic and they told me they wouldn't be able to see me until November 7th!!! LOL

So then there was only one more option...and that's Accident and Emergency.

THE SHAME! Lol.

I wish we could buy it over the counter. It's lousy.

There's nothing wrong with taking it when you're breastfeeding because you naturally release small amounts of the hormone from breastfeeding.

The doc' I saw told me you can't get pregnant when you're breastfeeding...and I was like..oh really..I didn't know that?!

Dickhead.

Lacirrom...what was it like gettin' pregnant so soon afterwards?!

And was it a natural birth the first time?

I know I'm dying just to have a normal body for a while. LOL

It's 98% effective up to 24 hours after.

85% up to 48 hours

and

58% up to 72 hours.

I'd advise taking it.

If you don't want to, you can get the coil fitted up to 5 days after unprotected sex.

It's all fresh in my head damnit. Lol

Plan B® is an extremely high dosage of chemical hormones.
It contains the same chemical hormones found in some types of birth control.

Plus, you may not even need it. You can only get pregnant on certain days of the month – around the time that you ovulate. Typically, there are only about three to five days a month in which a woman can get pregnant. Unfortunately, most women looking for the morning-after pill are panicked because they think (or perceive) the clock is ticking, and as a result they don’t take the time to evaluate their situation. If you weren’t fertile when you had sex because you were nowhere near ovulation, it is senseless to take the drug. It will only subject you to the possible side effects of nausea and vomiting and put a bunch of unnecessary hormones in your body.

Women who are considering Plan B® do not always know where they are in their cycle or if they are fertile, so they rush and spend money on a drug that they don’t need and that may harm their bodies.

Morning After Pill Over the Counter?
FDA, Pill's Maker to Discuss Making Pill Available Without Prescription Only to Women 18 & Older

Aug. 1, 2006 -- Plan B, the so-called morning after pill, is once again at issue before the FDA.

Acting FDA Commissioner Andrew von Eschenbach, MD, yesterday called on the drug's maker to revise its application for over-the-counter status for the drug.

von Eschenbach suggested the company seek to make it available without prescription only to women 18 and older.

The emergency contraception for women is currently available only by prescription. The FDA proposal would not change Plan B's availability to women of all ages by prescription.

Duramed, a subsidiary of Barr Pharmaceuticals, is the maker of Plan B.

Nearly a year ago, the FDA delayed a decision on Plan B's over-the-counter application, citing "novel regulatory issues" about making the drug available to women under 17.

At the time, the FDA commissioner was Lester Crawford, DVM, PhD, who has since resigned. Senate hearings to confirm von Eschenbach as his successor are scheduled for today.

Yesterday, the FDA announced it is working with Duramed to resolve the issue.

"We believe that the appropriate age for OTC [over-the-counter] access is 18," wrote von Eschenbach in a letter to Duramed dated July 31, 2006.

The letter instructs Duramed to revise its Plan B over-the-counter application with that age restriction in mind.

The FDA and Duramed will meet "immediately," possibly wrapping up the process "in a matter of weeks," says an FDA news release.
About Plan B

Plan B contains a higher dose of levonorgestrel, an ingredient also found in prescription birth control pills.

The morning after pill is taken by mouth after unprotected sex. It can stop the release of an egg from the ovary, prevent the union of sperm and egg, or block a fertilized egg from attaching to the womb.

If a fertilized egg implants before a woman takes Plan B, the drug will not work, according to background information on the FDA's web site.

In Australia it is available at the pharmacy, but they do ask for your details... I wish I knew that at the time because I thought it was only available at the doctors.... it made me feel like a slut with the way the doctor looked down on me.

well girls I decided aganist taking the pill. I have had so many issues with hormone bc in the past that I feally don't think that morning after pill is right for me. I will jsut hope for the best, and like others said the odds of getting preg are not in my favor.

I am still not having sex again though :)
