My husband and I had the same problem. We agreed on a girl's name, but not a boy's. Luckily we're having a girl (we think). We actually spent a lot of time skimming the social security administration's website, which tracks name popularity. You can look at the top names by year. Sometimes by searching back 20 years or so you can find nice names that aren't overused now. I sympathize with you completely, and agree on the 'jr' thing. Just a pain. :) ↑ |

With our first child my husband and I had the same problem. For a boy he wanted the name Tyler , but I didn't like it all that much. I wanted Ethan. My son is 2 now and we both got our way his name is Ethan Tyler. For a girl he wanted Caitlynn but because my mom insisted that she was going to call her Katie I came to hate the name. This time around my husband picked out a boys name Cole Joseph. I'm still trying to get use to it because I think Cole is such a grown up name (yes I know, he will eventually be an adult) but in another post people said you could always call him CJ which actually makes that name more kids friendly I think. I picked out the girls name Kylie Anne or Kylie Mae Elizabeth. I personally do not like the idea of Jr's (not that there is anything wrong with it). I just feel giving you kids a different name then their father (unless having him a Jr is for sentimental reason) gives him more of his own identity. That might sound stupid but just how I feel. I like both the name Evan or Aiden. What about using Adam as a middle name. Julianna was actually one of the names that I had picked out with my first if I was having a little girl. I absolutely love that name. ↑ |
