I am so confused about this whole thing. The father of my baby won't be in Florida when my baby is born. Therefore he won't be at the hospital to sign the birth certificate. If I don't put the baby's last name as his, does he still have to pay child support? How soon can I file for child support? I know that I can't get it until the baby is born, but my mom says that it takes the government awhile to find social security numbers? If anyone has any information on child supoprt...please let me know. Thanks!

You should be able to go to your local courts in JDR courts and file for child support as soon as you get out of the hospital...hon a good word of advice...try to keep up with his addresses and place of work, ok...if you go to court they will summons him, but they have to have an adress to send his summons to....i will check out some more things for you....but I would call the courts on monday and get things put together...hope this helps you...good luck and God Bless.

hell be made to take a DNA test in his state theyll send you the results and if you file for child support when you file for a paternity once it comes back then hell soon go to court to find out the amount he has to pay...thats how mine worked

your childs last name does not have to be its fathers. if you know his full name then child support will find him!!! you can file the day the child is born. child support has many ways to find fathers but if he request a paternaty test it will take some time!

ifrst you should find out which state offers the highet percentage of support....or what they base support off of, and then file for support in the state that offers you the most money for your child...secondly, you fill out papers for your baby's social befor eyou even leave the hospital and it usually takes about 6-8 weeks...the sooner you start the proces the faster it will be...give the baby his last name, then if he contests paternity the courts will offer him the chance to have paternity or voluntarily sign paternity papers stating that he is the biological father...make sure you keep up to date addresses and number sfor your baby daddy, once you did get child support it will go all the way back to tdya one when your child was born.
