I am due December 21 but I am scheduled for a c-section on the 14th. My son was 10lbs at birth so dr is afraid I will have another big baby and he's taking me a week early! Also, is anyone having a repeat c-section? The first one wasn't planned so things happened a little different. How do they do it when it is planned? HELP! Thanks!

I am having my C-section the end of january. This will be my second planned c-section. my first was Kenzie she was breach and had an underdeveloped heart. It was aweful for me. I got there at 7 am for prep and the c-section was scheduled for 1 pm. Someone else came in to have an emergency c-section so I got bumped till 3. Once they did get me in it waws very scary. Very cold and they do not mess around. I got on the bed they straped me down gave me the anestia (sp) and it was very cold. It didnt last very long but it was long enough. I was very uncomfortable. It wasnt that I could feel them cutting or anything but I felt all the pushing me around. It caused me to get aweful air pockets in the lining of my lung and gave me this unbearable pain in my collar bone area. Once they were done taking her out they gave her to my husband and he held her by my face so I could see her. I couldnt move my arms at all to touch her yet. Then when they got me all stitched up they brought me into recovery where I finally got to hold her. Afterwards I was ok not in terrible pain at all. I went home lessthan 2 days later. I was cooking and cleaning the same day I got home. BUT by doing so much I broke my incision open numerus times and the air in the lining of my lungs took months to completely release. I ended up in the hospital a couple times andthey wanted to put a chest tube in to release it but luckily it went out on its own.

my first c-section wasn't bad at all, the dr's were very nice and they were talking about what they were going to do for the weekend! very relaxed but i just wanted to have the baby already. They did it because i was in labor 45 hours with failure to progress past 5 cm. I just didn't know if it is any different when the surgery is planned. thanks for the info though.

Well good luck w/ everything but now you have me a bit concerend b/c my mom needed a c-section w/ me (her only child)...i hope i can deliver vaginally.

Krusty, It will have nothing to do with your moms labor with you. The only way I know im having another one this early is because my Dr will not do a vaginal birth after a c-section. it can be very risky. Most of the time you dont know your going to need one till problom develop.

I'm actually going in for a planned c-section on January 5th. The process is the same as a first time c-section only you don't have to go into labor and deal with all that. I have heard from several people that had repeated c-section that they seemed to heal alot better.

Kristy: I had a c-section with my first and my dr won't let me attempt to have vaginal because it's very risky and also my pelvis is too small!

EthansMom: Thanks! I healed really fast with my first so i am hoping i heal fast with this one!

Does it hurt when the staples are removed?

no, after you have a c-section you are pretty much numb there. I felt a slight tugging but nothing bad. I thought it was going to hurt a lot worse, but since you are still going to be on pain killers, you won't feel much.

I wasn't taken any pain killers when I had my staples out and no it didn't hurt when they removed them. As DeniseK mentioned your numb in that area. You'll feel a little tugging but that is about it.

All of my babies were C-Section, the first was emergency, the other two were planned because I had a "T" cut on the uterus and could not go into labor. The first was the worst, with each of the others it was easy each time. After my second one I was walking unassisted to the bathroom within a few hours. I would recommend an epidural over a spinal if you have the choice, post surgical side effects seem less bothersome. The great thing about both forms is the Morphine you get the first day. :)
Good luck!!!

I am due 12/14 and will have a c-section because I have placenta previa that isn't moving. I have no idea of what to expect, plus my husband's inlaws, who aren't helpful at all, want to come stay when the baby is born. I'm thinking that is a little too much for me to handle. Also, I have no pain tolerance. Help!
