Aliyah has been sleeping a lot more than usual the last two days. She is 4 1/2 months old and has some signs of teething. She doesn't have a fever, she doesn't appear to be sick. But she's just been sleeping a lot, she hasn't been as active. I put in a call to the Dr. office but they haven't called back yet.

I've heard of less sleep when teething, can they sleep more when teething? Or anyone know of any other reasons they might sleep more. Growth spurts?

well none of my kids did that during teething and i just read through "what to expect the first year" and it just talked about babies sleeping less during teething. as far as growth spurts it just stays that they usually want to eat more and a baby thats been sleeping through the night will start waking up wanting to eat during them. from my experience the only time a baby suddenly starts sleeping more is when they are getting sick. i hope thats not your aliyah's case though. good luck.

I wanted to let you know that my niece, who has been teething since she was 2 months old (now 7 months) gets extra cranky when she is teething and needs more sleep. So it is possible.

well I don;t know about teething, but I know that htey sleep more when they are going to learn a new skill. Kendra always does something new after haveing a day or two of sleeping a lot. Her newest thing is sitting up, and she had about 3-4 days of sleeping way more then she usually does, which is about three 20min naps a day LOL
