I'm 34 and expecting my 3rd child and I thought it would be easier this time round but I seem to be alot more worried this time about everything. I worry that things are going to go wrong, about my scans and blood tests. I worry about downs now that I'm older. I've even had very realistic dreams about miscarriage. Is this mornal or am I just being old and paranoid?

I think you are worring way too much, relax and enjoy your pregnancy.. this is 2nd time around for me to, and I was worried and uptight the first few months.... but then I realized that baby is growing good and appears to be healthy and I feel much better.

thanks guys. I try and tell myself not to worry but its easier said than done expecially when you then have a dream that knocks you for the rest of the day

Ya know, I hate what doctors do to women of what they call "advanced maternal age". I was 34 and would only be 35 for the last month and a half of my pregancy. All it did was make me worry sick and unfortunately, it ended in a mc at almost 11 weeks. I'm not sure what I plan on doing if I get pregnant agian.

You really have to dig deep within yourself and ask, will these tests make a difference if I know about my baby's health? Would it cause you to terminate or just worry more? Or would it put your mind at ease? I wish I could help you better, but odds are, your baby will be fine. You're not old and you're not paranoid. Try not to worry and enjoy your pregnancy. And Congrats!!!

thank you so much for all your helpful advice. Its so reassuring to know its not just me. If any tests did come back bad news I know I wouldn't terminate so I don't know if I even should have the blood tests. Will they make me worry more or less?

cath--- I choose not to do the test because the is upwards of a 88% false positive rate. Then you get an US then an amino and that can cause a M/C. We are jsut going to do the US and if there are abnormalities then we will go from there, but chances of a false pos were jsut too high of me and I know I would be so worried

is that a false reading for the blood tests that I've been offered at 16 weeks. Did you refuse all the tests then or just the downs test?

sorry I'm sounding dumb now. I've just read up on the test and their all together aren't they. It's just my pregnancy brain lol.
