Hi gals, Well my little girl is 3 1/2 weeks old now, and I've missed being pregnant since she was only a few days old. Don't get me wrong I couldn't wait to see her and love her to death, I just miss the feeling of having a baby inside me, even if it was painful the last month! Anyway, we're doing very well. Good luck to all. If anyone has any questions about delivery I'd be happy to answer them while everything's still fresh in my mind.

how are the first few days home?

The first couple days were sort of odd. Before there was 2 of us, then all a sudden 3! We mostly just stared at her in awe. As soon as we got home from the hospital all 3 of us had a nap. I wasn't able to get any sleep in the hospital.

Is it wierd to have a baby now. You are pregnant for so long then all of sudden-there she is? Does she feel like yours?

Yes, how is breastfeeding?

I am breastfeeding and I had a regular delivery. It is weird having her here on "the outside". For so long I waited to see what she looked like and if she was a girl or boy, and all a sudden she's here. She feels like mine now, not so much right after delivery, it was all kinda surreal.

I enjoy breastfeeding, and we've done really well with it. My nipples were only tender the first couple of days. She learned to latch on well fairly quickly. It was hurting until I realized she didn't have her bottom lip down when latched on, once we corrected that a couple times she learned to do it properly on her own. My only complaint now is that she always falls asleep nursing. It's usually the only way she falls asleep at all. And it's tough to put her in her bassinet without waking her up. She likes to be held too much.

did you have an epidural? If you did, did it make it so that you couldnt move your legs? I'm thinking of having an epidural but am worried it will paralyze me and thats a phobia of mine.....however if I hear that it does paralyze you but compared to the pain its worth it id prolly still do it.....

No I did not have an epidural. I just used the gas mask, which didn't do much except allow me to focus on something other than the pain I was in. If I did it without an epidural anyone can, I have a very low tolerance for pain. Don't get me wrong though it hurt like hell

is it as stressful as you thought or is it better? i am having my baby friday hes breech so i have to have a c-section but i still can't imagine actually having a baby even though i am ready and all my bags are packed.

I wasn't too stressed all in all, but i was definately a lot more comfortable once we left the hospital. I just din't like being there and they didn't help us out much anyway. They kept saying they'd show us how to do this and that, like bathing her, but never made good on it. Good thing I have much younger silbings (14 and 12 yrs old) and I remembered most things from when they were born. I think most things just come naturally to you once they're here. I guess my main stress is from always checking if she's breathing when she sleeps, or worrying when she chokes b/c she's swallowed too much milk at a time. But it gets easier. Best of luck to you on Friday!

PWS

Pregnancy withdrawl syndrome

I know what you mean, I think I just felt that I could protect my baby more so in the womb. I was at the doctor twice a week for the last trimester and I think I had doctor appt withdrawl syndrome as well.

Congrats on your baby girl!

i'm the same way my little girl is just 4 days old and i already miss being pregnant. however I supposed being extreamly stressed out right now doesn't help. I love my little one more then anything, but she does these sharp chilling screams and I don't know why...i've been told it could be gas pains and cramps.

Logan, I had to stay at the hospital for 2 days. I had her on Sunday Oct 1 and had to stay till tuesday morning. I wasn't happy about it. I was ready to go home Monday, but my doctor said that my delivery was difficult so she wanted me to stay the extra day. What made it worse was that there was one other baby born 2 hours before mine and they let them go home after on night. But she had a different doctor than me.

Christina, have you heard about doing things with her legs if it is gas? You can gently press them upward toward her belly bending them at the knee or alternate moving them upwards one at a time. The first movement works the best for us. We know she has gas when she squirms kicking her legs around unhappily. When I press her legs toward her chest it makes her fart each time until she's better. I hope things improve for you. I know exactly how hard it is when they cry and you don't know what's wrong with them. It breaks your heart. Good Luck!

thanks LindsayK, i'll have to try that. You're right when you don't know why there crying and can't figure it out, it does break your heart. I feel so bad everytime. Now If only I can get her to sleep in the basinet beside our bed for more then 4 minutes would be a miracle. I need sleep so bad..i'm soo exhausted. I don't sleep much at all lately.

Christina, I know what you mean about not getting any sleep. By the time I get her down it takes me awhile to fall asleep then she's up again. I've learned to function on only a few hours hear and there a night. I think the most I've gotton a night is like five. She'll usually go between 2 and 3 hours between feedings, but I can never get her down till 1:30 or 2am and then she's usually up at 6 or 6:30.
