i couldn't get one at my first appointment with my 1st daughter. they had me go back 2 weeks later to check for it. it was too early.
now pregnant again, i got worried when they couldn''t find it with this baby so they rushed me to ultrasound to make sure everything was ok. We saw the heart beating, it turned out i am due 3 weeks later than we originally thought so it was just too early again.. Usually around 9-10 weeks you can hear the heartbeat. can't wait to hear it at my next appointment!

We couldnt find my daughters either just hold off till the next appointment unless you are just to worried then go in when you need to just for reassurance. I hope all is ok and im sure it is you might not be as far as you think or your baby just wanst in the right position let us know when you hear it

I had an emergency ultra sound at 8 wks 2 days and they said at the E.R. that normally its hard to see or hear the baby/ heartbeat when doing the ultra sound on the belly...but they seen mine and well i seen the heart fluttering really fast.....it was awsome! another way for the DOCs to to an ultra sound is vaginally...did u know that? It's new to me.

Thanks girls that helps a bit! I was reading that in a book too and he said that he thought mine was drowing out the babys soooo next time I guess... yes I heard that about the vaginal ultrasound... I have doc digging in there enough as it is i will wait till the normal one!!

I had a vaginal done when they couldn't find my first sons heartbeat. It is not like they "dig" around in there.. They just simply place a Long tube like thing ( similar to an "adult toy" ) and get a heartbeat that way. Very painless and fast way to put your fears to rest.

I wouldnt worry until you are father along cause it takes a min to find my babies heart beat from doctor to doctor and im 25 weeks the baby just might not be where they are looking or something is drowning out the heart beat. If your to worried reqeust an ultrasound sooner to put your mind at easy

I wouldn't worry, the doc couldn't find my baby's heart beat at the first appointment either. I think it was the second or third appointment when I was finally able to hear it. I worried too, it's natural. But i'm sure everything will be just fine, especially if the doc says everything looks to be fine.
