No but gainning too much can make labor more difficult but don't worry about it that much I personnaly don't think 25 pounds is enough for all women. I lost thirty within two weeks of having my baby and another ten at six weeks. I think I had a lot of water weight. I still have some left to lose.

of all of the books and articles i have read it says that mothers weight gain doesnt have that much effect of baby size... unless there is excess sugar in the blood like with diabetes.... that mostly bigger women will have bigger babies (like pelvis size wise) ive gained 45 pounds so far but no one can tell.... actually ive been hit on by so many pervs and weirdos since ive been preg its not even funny... ive gained alot but i feel like i look hot!
anyways i havent been too worrried about the weight gain and one of my appointments i got this different gynocologist (who actually delivered ME 26 years ago!!!) who was old and grumpy and told me my baby was going to turn into a montser and it was going to be too huge to have, that i was getting fat.... he made me cry!
later come to find out he is a major a$$hole and is old and cranky and all the women who go there have issues with him and request to see different doctor cause he is HORRIBLE!!!

Tan, I only gained 23 pounds and was not diabetic, but my baby was over 10 pounds. You really can't tell by the weight gain. I actually got huge at the end, even when I quit gaining and lost a few pounds the last month, I got so big, really looked more like 50 pounds! Don't worry about the weight most of it will go away after delivery, but wait a few days to jump on the scale after birth, it takes some time to lose the fluids- which by the way, nobody told me that you sweat profusely after delivery, but it's common.

I gained 20 lbs my first pregnancy and my son was 9 lbs! I think some has to do with genetics because I was also 9lbs and so was my dad

I have five kids. And I never gain that much weight while i am pregnant. I gained 15 pounds with my first child and she weighed 7 pounds. With the second baby I gained 11 pounds and he weighed 9 pounds.
