I took a HPT last Friday and went tomy doctor on the same day and took a blood test.
The HPT test came postive and the blood came back negative.
So Monday I took anothe HPT the came postive and went back to the doctor for another blood test, which I am waiting for results.
Questions: Which tests are better? And am I pregnant? ↓

| From what I understand, urine tests at home will detect HCG levels in the blood over a value of 30, while blood tests will detect anything above a 5. The HCG value should double every few days in early pregnancy. I'd call your doctor right now and ask! When I had blood tests done the results were ready within hours. They should know by now. To answer your question though, I think blood tests are more accurate in general. ↑ |

I just read an article on this subject because there was another post about the same thing.
Both are 97% to 99% accurate if done properly. It is possible to recieve a false negative or false positive with either. This can happen for several reason.
1) with a home pregnancy test it is recommended that you wait at least 1 week after your period is due. If you test to early you could get a false reading.
2) with a home pregnancy test you should follow the direction to the letter. You can recieve a false positive should you let it set longer then what is stated because the strip will eventually soak up the urine and expose the chemical strip that indicated pregnancy.
3) It is recommend with a HPT to be taken first thing in the morning before you have had anything to eat or drink.
A blood test they say is actually more sensitive then the HPT because it can measure levels of HCG 7 days after ovulation. However, you can receieve false negative because of a lab oversight. It also states that you can receive False negative in early pregnancy.
Another reason for false positive can happen if you are taking any medication that contain HCG.
I would recommend waiting a little bit and taking another HPT. If still postive contact your doctor and see if they will give you another blood test. ↑ |

UPDATE... My doctor called and my blood test results from Friday were 75 today they are 265 from Mondays test, so she said I am probably pregnant ,she just want to test again this Friday.
I took another HPT and it came postive almost before I was done.

| i'd get another blood test if i were you, hpt's aren't normally wrong when it comes back pos, normally the wrong part if it comes back neg, that the 1% thing on the box ↑ |

I got my blood results finally from my doc, I went from
75 to 275 to 1356- I know I am prego forsure now.

7 weeks, but I have a doc appointment tomorrow, and a ultrasound later this week, but I think 7 weeks (LMP May 25)
