How do I make myself stop checking her every 5 minutes to make sure she is breathing! I just keep looking at her to make sure her little chest is moving. Tonight is my first night home, and I can tell I am going to want to check on her every 5 minutes that she's not crying lol. I know this is normal, but can anyone give me tips on how to get over it faster?

Hi S2BM!
You are completely normal! First off, congrats! Next, I did the same thing with both of my boys and it will go away! You'll probably check for a few weeks, sepecially if she is in her own room and not yours. You will eventually get to know her sounds, routines and feel confident in yourself. I usually say the first night is hell becuase you are most likely exhausted from delivery, uncertain of yourself and paranoid about what to do. Rest assured she is fine and so are you. Good Luck and email me with any questions!

I'm not sure there is a way to get over it, unless you can just convince yourself she'll be fine. In a couple days, you'll be so tired you'll be able to sleep no matter what!

I think that is just part of being a mommy and it is something you will probably never get over. My guy is 2 and I check on him still & of course I have the monitor turned up too.
When he was brand new he slept in a co-sleeper so I didnt even have to open my eyes to check. I would just reach over and feel his chest going up and down. Maybe look into getting a video monitor that way you can always see her.
On a side note, I sometimes catch my mom checking on me whenever I go visit, I'm 31. LOL
