I so want my baby to have brown eyes and brunette hair like me! But it's father has blue eyes and fair hair, and I'm hoping it doesn't take his traits! Can anyone who knows about this kind of thing give me some idea what my baby's chances are of having my traits rather than it's father's?

well I can tell you that dark hair and eyes are a dominate genes and blond hair blue eyes are recessive, so that odds are tht you will get you wish.

well i was a blonde with blue eyes, my partner was brown eyes and brown/red hair

My son come out with Blue eyes and red hair.......so it really is just a mixer! It doesnt just depend on your genes..you can have throwbacks from your side/his side of the family.

GL i hope you get what you want..........

mizzbrandiss is right...brown does dominate blue, but in my son has blue eyes...i have green, and my hubby has brown. the only people in my and his family that has blue eyes were our grandpa's. he takes after both sets of grandfathers...mostly mine.

Though Brown usually dominates Blue, it's not set in stone. It also depends on your ancestry and well as his. I have brown hair and eyes. 4 of my kids have blue or green eyes. Three have blonde hair. I think my part Irish ancestry along with his English ones have come together to override my darker genes.

It depends also on your parents and his parents. That helps to indicate dominate/recessive. Ah the good ole genetics days. For example, I have blue eyes. My mom has blue and my dad has brown but all of my grandparents but one had blue. And my hair is fair even though most everyone is dark. Not sure how that happened. Maybe it was the milk man...
I want the baby to have blue eyes but I don't think it's going to happen. Oh well. I'll take healthy

My friend is brown hair, green eyes, her hubby is very blonde (almost white) hair and blue eyes, their daughter is blonde haired/ blue eyed. Another friend, brown hair brown eyes, hubby is a red head with blue eyes, daughter is a blonde with blue eyes. My dad, brown hair/brown eyes, my mom blonde hair blue eyes, both my brother and I are blonde/blue.

So while the dominate genes are brown/brown doesn't always come out that way. =)
