So I was just reading about labor.. and the pushing process. Are there any plus sized moms out there that can give me some positioning tips? I am a pretty good amount overweight so some alternate positions might not work for me. I just read that the traditional on your back position can slow down labor (because of gravity or something) and I am sure I am NOT going to want that. What other positions can I try?

yeah, when the time comes you will know what position sounds good to you....I always thought I would do the standing up one because gravity helps but when the time came i was like screw that im not standing im laying right here! lol, i tried the laying on the side too but that wasnt great for me either.....I dont think being plus size will have anything to do with the positioning? but i could be wrong....

THE CHAIR!!! The gravity helps the baby move down, and you can lean back during contractions if you want....yup the chair is your friend

i am not a big person but i spent most of my time in the shower to help the pains and then i thought i needed to do a poo on the toilet so i sat on the toilet it wasnt poo it was the baby. But anyway the shower really helped me alot with pains my labour was only 8 and half hours from start to end and my baby was 8 pound one and half ounces which is 3.6kg around that justbit bigger. I want to have a water birth

another thing that's important, is if you opt to not have a epidural right away, you can walk around all you want. walking up and down the halls helps speed things along too....at our hospital they even had a little patio so you could go and relax outside and get some fresh air....it was nice...well maybe not in the winter....i had anika in april so it was nice and warm and sunny outside!!
