So tomorrow I am moving into a a new house! I am 4 weeks, and am not sure if I can lift heavy objects at this time in pregnancy. Does anyone know the limits? is it safe this early? Any info would be helpful, I dont want to risk it! Thanks Girls!

My doctor told me not to lift more than 25 lbs throughout my pregnancy, and I think that's pretty standard. However, as long as you aren't lifting every heavy thing all day while you move, you can probably offer a little bit of help with some of the bigger stuff -- I worked in a daycare and a lot of the kids I had to lift were more than 25 and I was fine!

I agree with you Ang. I would think that unless you have a history of high risk preg. there shouldn't be a prob with lifting. Some people don't even find out they're preg. til later than four weeks. ....BBBuuutttt, its a great excuse to get out of the crappy work!

Thanks! I just wasn't sure because I was reading from now until the 10th week is the most important time to take it easy. But I'm not a wimp, I would like to move my own stuff. Most girls are like oh, im pregnant could you do everything for me! haha.. good excuse though!

If you don't want to rick it...don't lift anything. But the "pointer"...that goes there...this goes there.

You're just as helpful =)

Well I've moved house three times since I've gotten pregnant...and I've helped with all the heavy things and the T.V. too.

I still feel able to do it.

When the day comes when my body doesn't feel right doin' it then I won't.

I suppose it depends on the person.

Also...I was constantly lifting my Da' into chairs, with the help of others...for the first two months of pregnancy.

I was worried a little bit 'cause it was tough...But I'm doin' fine.

I say go ahead and help with the moving.

The sooner everything gets moved in, the sooner you can relax! Lol

i dont think you should do any heavy lifting. A friend of mine went to the hospital when she was about 15 weeks cause of lifting and boy did the drs get after her for doing so. She was about to go into early (really early) labor. She's doing fine now but was put on bed rest for 2 weeks when this happened. Im not risking it. I bought a new lighter mop aned everything, and i even try NOT to carry my son too much. It's hard though cause he's my baby, but i gotta take care of his sibling, he's the reason i wanted to get pregnant.

Even thought you're still 4 weeks, just take it easy and dont do the heavy lifting. Like Opheiliamath said, "be the pointer", LOL
