So Jasmine is a week old as of 9:30 tonight. She is already (and has been since like saturday) eating between 2 and 3 ounces of formula at a time. A couple times - at night - she has even eaten as much as 4 ounces. Is this okay? I would assume she wouldnt eat more than she is hungry for right? I just dont want her to be one of those fat babies you see on Maury or something. She had aleady gained back the weight she lost at the hospital after being home 1 1/2 days - that was about 6oz. I wonder what she weighs now!

Bottle fed babies can eat more than they actually need, because it doesn't register that they're full until after they are, since the bottle flows so fast. But...I think she should be ok. If it seems like she wants more right after she eats, she might just want to suck on something... do you use a pacifier?

I have been trying to use a pacifier but she only seems interested in it when she's hungry - never any other time. I guess its a good way to tell if shes hungry or if somethinge else is wrong though lol.

The thing is though, she isnt fussy at all! Not after eating anyway. The only time she is fussy is when she DOESNT get to eat all that she wants. So I really dont think eating that much is hurting her. She falls right to sleep and is fine after she eats. Maybe she is just going to take after me lol.

I mentioned to her doctor at her first checkup appointment Monday. She said try not to let her eat more than 3oz and definately not more than 4oz. She is eating Similac Advanced.
