Hi, well I am 37 weeks & 3 days pregnant as of today. So due real soon! I have size 1 (8-14lbs) diapers at home, but should I buy Newborn diapers, or wait till baby is born? What if the baby is like 8 or more lbs (I hope not but I was 12 lbs geez I know)? Will the hospital give me some newborn diapers that will cover me for a day or two after I leave the hospital? I don't want to buy any if I end up not needing them. Thanks.

lol get both to be safe, if the baby is in the smaller ones then save the bigger ones coz they will grow into them, if they are in the bigger ones then give the smaller ones away lol. hope that was useful lol xxxx

My hospital will give us diapers while in the hospital and one to go home but that's it. I've purchased several packs of the 6 to 12 lbs/Newborn ones.

I had my little guy 4 weeks early, they didnt give me any diapers so i had to buy my own. They come in 40 per bag( Pampers) so if you dont need them you wont have allot

My hospital gave me 40 Pampers Swaddlers in newborn size when we left the hospital. That's only about 5 days worth. I had my baby 5 weeks early... so he hasn't even grown INTO them yet, lol. But for a regular sized baby I'd still get them just in case. If not then you might end up doing a lot of laundry. : ) You can always give your extras to someone else if you end up with a big baby.

My son was 8lbs 6oz and I used 2 packs of newborn diapers with him. I used the Huggies with the umbilical cutout and then went straight to the Huggies Gentle Care sz 1. He was in the size 1 for the shortest period of time. I only went through one pack. The weight doesn't really matter I don't think. If you have a long skinny baby (which mine wasn't haha) then it might be in the newborns longer.

Jasmin- The hospital will give you the remainder of the pack that your baby does not use while in the hospital. I think (unless of course the baby is 12 lbs.) then you would probably use the newborn diapers. My daughter is 6 weeks old and can still fit them fine and she weighs almost 10 pounds! If you got a couple packs or even one and you happen to have a larger baby you could always exchange them!

I know.. I know... swaddlers are ok.. I just hate that they rub the umbelical cord, main reason I went with Huggies was for the umbelical cord cut out! But ya know..that and the baby dry in Pampers broke Tyler out... but different stuff works better for different babies! whatever works... haha

yeah i plan on getting one of these things at babies are us, they're like foam cups, you put them over the boys peepee when you're changing them so they cant spray you lol

I just folded the front down before I closed it, and then the tabs kept it off his cord. I didn't even know they made diapers with a cut out.

I have a package of cheap diapers that I got from my shower (Walmart brand) and they actually aren't that bad. I'm not sure how much cheaper they are. They're sort of papery though... they crinkle when he moves around. lol. But they haven't leaked yet.

thats what i always did when changing my brother and sister or any kid for that matter, thats howi was taught to change diapers to fold down the thing in the front a little so its not this huge flap just sittig there rubbing there stomachs. i dono ill figure something out.

I would definately get both the newborn diapers and size 1s. My daughter was born 8 weeks ago and is still in newborn diapers, I tried 1s on her yesterday since I have those as well and they are still a little to big.

newborns loose a few pounds their first few days anyways

My baby was 6lb 1oz and we ended up using them the first 5 weeks or so. Like Nicole said those were even big at first.

Toot Toot... do you mean oz's? No newborn should lose lbs.

i hope so, babies lose about 10% of their birth weight over the first week or so then gain it back, so there is no way its LBs lol
