no, epidurals don't hurt that bad. I've had 3 of them and it was no big deal. The contractions are what hurt, it was just difficult to sit still while they did it while I was having such bad contractions!! All I did was let them know when a strong one was coming or they could tell on the monitor and they would stop until it was over. Don't worry, it will be fine! ↑ |

are you a person that is scared of needles? they dont bother me but also i think that when people get even the most painful shots, the doctors and medical people will help you through it. god luck and congrats on your little one ↑ |

I was 7cm when I got the epidural so by that time the contractions were so strong that the needle didn't faze me. I will tell you in my experience it is harder to push with the epidural. I could not feel myself pushing and it prolonged my labor which was exhausting. After 2 hours of pushing and the baby not moving they had to use forcepts. I am on baby #2 and I am so scared of them using forcepts again that I'll endure the pain and skip the epidural. Ask to see a pair of forcepts and imagine how they are going to fit inside of you. And the epidural did not help ease the pain of those going inside of me. ↑ |
