As most of you have seen my posts from today, but i just need a bit of advice. I had gone to see my doctor today to get checked and to talk about inducing. Well everything went just great, the doctor checked me said my cervix was opening nicely and the baby's head is right down. He said after the check i may notice some spotting. Well after I had left the office I had noticed a ton more pressure almost instantly. After I had been home for a few hours I had noticed quit a bit of spotting on my underware..it was mostly all brown and I had noticed there was also pink there too. I'm not sure how much spotting is normal after a check tho and silly me forgot to ask.
Also I have a ton of pressure and really sharp pains all throughout my pelvic area. Feels like a really bad period, and painful blood clots. I don't know if I should be calling the hospital to ask them what to do or not. I don't have any contractions that i'm aware of, i just ocassionally get light cramping. Any advice or comments would be great. Oh i'm 40 weeks and 2 days.

Sweetie I would call the hospital,...you're so far along that you need to talk to a dr. or nurse...you need to make sure that the baby isn't under stress. Don't be worried if they think you're being a hypochondriac...the most important thing is the well-being of you and your baby, and none of us on this board can tell you if everything's ok or not. Good luck and let us know what happens.

When I went into labor with my son I wasn't even aware that I was in labor. You can actually tell if your having contraction if your uterus (belly feels hard). How often are you getting the light cramping? By what you are saying it almost sounds as if your are in labor.

Labour is different for every woman, and pinpointing when it begins is not really possible. It's more of a process than a single event, when a number of physiological changes in your body work together to help deliver a baby. If you're truly in labour, one or more of the following five things will happen:

• Your cervix will become progressively thinner and softer (also called effacement) and dilated -- up to 10 centimetres.

• Contractions occur at regular and increasingly shorter intervals and become longer and stronger in intensity.

• You may have persistent lower back pain, often accompanied by a crampy premenstrual feeling.

• You may notice the appearance of a bloody show (a brownish or blood-tinged mucus discharge). If you pass the mucus plug that blocks the cervix, labour could be imminent -- or it could be several days away. Still, it's a sign that things are moving along.

• Your waters break, but only if it's accompanied by contractions.

wow i'm goin nuts!! after I wrote all of this lastnight, the majority of everything stopped. I still feel lots of pressure, but that's it. I was so hoping to go into labor lastnight and well i'm still home. I'm going out for a long walk with my fiance tonight see if that helps things along. I'm feeling quit depressed tho, i mean 40 weeks and 3 days my god! But thanks for all the info EthansMom and Kristy.

when I hit the 32 week mark i had quite a bit of pressure in my pelvic area, then as the weeks flew by the pressure got more intense, the doc told me that it was my hips still widening and my vagina prepairing for the baby. I didn't have bleeding after an internal, but some woman spot when they're pregnant after internal exams and sex. wow over 40 weeks hey... u must be ready to yell get this baby out of me!!lol... good luck hun

Hey Julie ~

Yeah i'm goin nuts waiting for this baby to come out. I've tried every trick possible to get her to come out, and she still hasn't yet. I'm soo frusterated and really uncomfortable. Hopefully a long walk tonight might help a bit more. I really don't want to be induced but so far it's looking that way. Hmm I wonder if screaming "get this baby outta me" would work lol
