How long can you have a baby sleep in a bassinet? My brother is giving us his son's crib, but wants to keep it another 1-2 months before totally letting his son sleep in the toddler bed, he wants to make sure his son gets used to it, first let him take naps in there then kind of ween him off to JUST the toddler bed. Well I have a bassinet and am due March 22nd. I heard some people keep their babies in there 2-3 months...can anyone help me with my question please? thanks, Jasmin

my son is 2 months now and he is still in the basnet, its a life saver, i can wheel it around the house so its in the same room as me :)

It depends on the size of your baby, and how big the basnet is , as to how quick they grow out of it.

Oliver probably has another 2-3 weeks before i think he will be too big for it and i will have to put him in a portable cot.

Hope this helps

they said that a baby can be in the bassinet (depends on the weight) Most are the baby can be no more then 15 to 20 pounds. good luck

Thanks to both of you to your replies!!! It's greatly appreciated! Okay so I got a little over a month till the baby is due then I can keep her in the bassinett for about 2 months once she is born so that'll be about 3 months away by then I'm sure my brother will not need the crib anymore. I have a bassinet that has no wheels but it rocks left and right and has music and a night light on it. I can't figure out how to get the top (the fabric) off the little roof things though! After I washed the bedding stuff for the bassinett it took me like 45 minutes to figure out how to get it back on haha...I guess I'll learn as I go with things like that being a first time mom.

You can keep your baby in your bassinet for more than 2 months. You need to check the weight on them. If you have a bassinet play yard conversion that is full size compared to half side bassinet, then it will be on the higher end of the weight. Mobility is a factor as well, once they learn to sit up, it's time to move them out.

i got to only keep my son in a bassinet for a month. he got to big for it. at night he would kick his legs so hard that it would rock and i got scared that he would somehow flip it over. it just all depends on the size of your baby and weight.

My son stayed in his bassinet until he was 3 months old. I suppose it just depends on the babys size and weight to, the new bassinet I bought holds up to 25 pounds.
