I just had my 20 week ultrasound done today and the ultrasound tech said she is 90% sure that it is a girl!! She said she could see three lines where the labia is and that she couldn't see a scrotum or penis but he could just be a late bloomer. How accurate do you think it is? Could I have a boy or is it a girl, in your opinion of course!! Has this happened to anyone else?!! Thanks!!

They say 90% accurate most of the time if they are sure or pretty dang close. But I do know my friend was told she was having a boy but she came out a gilr because the umbilical cord looked like a penis. But since she didnt see anything and was pretty sure than its probably a girl. Congrats lil girls are great

The "three lines" are usually the markers they look for in determining a girl. They are pretty unmistakeable for the most part. But there are late bloomers. Not often but it happens.

Congratulations! I'm 20 weeks today as well and found out two weeks ago that I'm having a little girl. The tech saw the little lines for my baby too. I'm not concerned about it, I'm almost 100% sure that it's a girl. What's your due date? I think you mentioned it another post, but I can't remember for sure. How old are you? I just turned 22. Well good luck.. Any names yet?

Luckily, when babies are in utero, their genitals are very swollen and it's fairly simple to detect whether or not you're having a boy or a girl. Boys are generally very distinctive, but as with anything, nothing is really 100% until you get your little miracle here.

My advice is that anything you buy new, keep tags on it if it's gender specific and keep reciepts for things as well. Just to be on the safe side. I've known several grandmothers who have had to make late night runs to WalMart to exchange blue clothes for pink ones or vice versa, and make Dad and Grandpa go re paint the nursery at a moments notice.
