I have a question. I was not "entirely" in shape when I got pregnant but still active. I bought a treadmill when I found out that I was pregnant so that I can at least try to keep in some kind of shape and keep those extra pounds off that aren't needed but I'm not trying to LOSE weight.... Someone told me that you shouldn't do anything during pregnancy that you didn't do to some extent before pregnancy. So, since I didn't walk on a treadmill every day before I got pregnant I can't do it now?
I'm not overdoing it I'm just doing something so that I don't gain TOO much weight like I did in my 1st pregnancy. Is this ok??

As long as your not like over exausting yourself there should be no reason not to. Its just like taking walks which are recommened you do more when you are pregnant if you werent active before. So i see no reason as to why it would be bad just drink lots of water when you walk

That's about right... walking on a treadmill is basicly the same thing as going for a walk, just without having to go outside in the blazing heat and swatting off all number of insects. I'd say there's nothing wrong with going for a healthy walk on your treadmill and think that when people say not to do an exercise during pregnancy that you didn't do before refers to...well... not taking up kick boxing, or power step aerobics, etc, unless your doctor gives you the okay.

That's what I thought too. I was just kinda thrown off when I heard that and I really enjoy walking because I feel like I'm doing SOMETHING to take away some of this stress....lol. Thanks for the feedback, I just wanted some opinions.

If you weren't super active before pregnancy, walking is an excellent way to start during pregnancy! I do a lot of research ( I am a fitness teacher) and I have read numerous studies that say that walking is great place to start during pregnancy. Also water fitness classes are great too. You can SLOWLY build up to longer harder walking sessions etc, but with your doctors ok, I would definately walk daily. You and your baby will benefit. Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck!
