I just went to the doctor today for my first checkup. I've been experiencing what I thought to be cramps and uterus stretching pains. It's my first prenancy and I wasn't sure if I was 5 or 9 weeks prego.I thought the pain meant I was farther along than I thought. Anyway, so the doctor does a sonogram and says that it looks like I'm only 4 weeks pregnant and did I know that I have a 5cm Cyst in my uterus! (not sure if its on my ovary because I spaced out when I saw it in the sonogram) and it truely scared the shit out of me. So I exclaimed-- "so is THAT the cause of all my pain?" He said yes-- but he hopes that it will get smaller and not rupture... First step is to see if the 4 week fetus is growing steadily... I took a blood test today and will take another in 2 days to compare and see if my hormone levels go up (this will mean that the fetus is growing)... but the cyst is very painful and I'm scared of the unknown. Any experiences to share?

also-- I am worried about miscarriage... I'm worried about the cyst rupturing and either hurting the pregnancy or my own body... I feel like I'm expecting the worse case scenerio... the pain has been going on for atleast the past 6 weeks.

I dont think you will miscarry and they would probably do surgery on you to remove it than have it rupture inside of you dont you think. i'd hope so at least. You should ask your doctor about it ask him everything that goes through your mind and he can help you with your worries. GOOD LUCK AND HOPE EVERTHING TURNS OUT FOR THE BEST!!!!

Thanks Heather. After I left the doctor's office yesterday -- sooo many concerns came to my head... I will definately ask him at my appointment tomorrow... also, I'm taking my mother with me for support. I'm hoping for good results by Friday but I feel alittle depressed and that makes it hard. Thankyou for your confidence! I REALLY appreciate it.

hey there. i went into the emergency room because i was having pains late at night a while back. they did a sonogram on me and then they never told me what was going on. the next day i went to get my medical records to find out what they hadent told me, and i also had a cyst. its nothing to be worried about...i was mad because they didnt tell me but when i asked about it, they said it usually goes away within 1-3 days. they shrink and shrink and then disappear..yea, some can rupture but i wouldnt be too worried. i went back to the doctor to have another sonogram and it was gone. they say that a cyst forms from an egg planting itself on your walls and then just lays there...it will go away eventually. i think its an egg, or a sprem or something like that..lol...cyst cannot cause miscarrige. your baby is protected by a sac in there.

Actually I've read that if the cyst ruptures then the baby will NOT survive... my doctor told me yesterday that I should only stroll when I walk and to 'be careful' about lifting anything etc... AND he said "we will need to watch this carefully." The doctor said that if I wasn't pregnant then he would just remove it. I just want it to go away so I can concentrate on this baby (it's my first and I'm 30 yrs. old-- so I'm VERY excited!) I appreciate YOUR confidence as well Heather #2. I love this chat room.
