| i found out tonight that i had a uti at the hospital (i've been having scares with high blood pressure). i see my regular ob on thursday and i was thinking he'd do the group b swab. but i don't know if he'll do it now that i have a uti. would having a uti mess up the results of the swab? ↑ |
| mine never has... there is no need... you cant tell with a vaginal exam because it is in your urinary tract. He will just have you take the antibiotics and test again in a couple weeks. ↑ |
| i already know i have the uti. my urine was tested today by my hospital for protein but they found bacteria instead. what i'm asking is, if because of the uti, will my doctor still perform the vaginal exam or will he wait until it's gone to swab me for group b strep? ↑ |
| ohhhh ummm I dont know. I would just ask him to wait since obviously you know UTI's are very uncomfortable as it is. Why is he doing a vaginal exam? I forget how far you are. ↑ |
| there is no reason for a vag exam for a uti, you pee in a cup, they put in a stick in the pee and that is it- I would say please stay away. ↑ |
i'll be 35.4 weeks on my appt. so i was thinking he'd do the group b swab then and i'm kinda anxious to hear if i'm dialated/effaced. i'll be all discouraged if he can't do it because of the uti.

| Oh well then hell tell him to go for it. A utio wont give you discharge or anything just bad pain when you pee... except when you are pregnant... it is weird I have had them pregnant and not pregnant and all the times when I was pregnant I never even knew like yousaid but when I was not pregnant I thought I was going to die! Ask him to go for it and do the exam if you are comfortable with it. ↑ |
