i was just curious of what all of you were doing as far as the babys sleeping arrangments. Were not going to use the bassinet. we want to start him off in the crib so that he'll be used to it from day one and we wont have to worry about him being scared or something sleeping in a way bigger space. i think that they feel snug in the bassinet that its going to scare them when they get to the crib. i know alot of people do the bassinet thing, but what are you guys doing?

I want to use the pack n play that has the bassinet, changing table, and play pen all in one because you can put him/her in the bassinet during the day and in the playpen part at night to sleep in. and when he/she gets bigger I will buy the 4-in-1 crib which is only $130.00 at walmart and I think that is very cheap!! It even has drawers underneath to store things.

I got the bassinet and crib as gifts so we're going for the bassinet at first then the crib later as she out grows it a bit. They're both very pricey so we gotta put them to use somehow.
I didn't think babies got scared of the switch though.

Heather--- This baby is my third one and with the other two--They really didn't like the bassinet anyway! I bought a crib and that is what he is going to sleep in from day one! I have one of those sleep positioner things and I will put that in the middle of the crib! I think that it will make it easier for him to stay in that way! I really don't like bassinets anyway...My son was a big boy and always tryed to turn sideways when sleeping! Let me tell you, once he was out of the bassinet---He ACTUALLY slept! :)
In the end--I think that it is totally up to you which one you want to use. If you have the pack and play and want to try it out...nothing wrong with that! If all you have is the crib...you can stay with that also! Do whatever works for you and your family. Every baby is different....Some love bassinets, some don't......
Good Luk!!! :)

I liked the bassinet for about a month, and then something happened that scared me to death, and I never used it again! My son was about 3 or 4 weeks old, and definitely not over the age or weight limit for a bassinet. I thought it was nice to have the bassinet right by me while I slept. Beina new mom, I was always worried, and I woke up a lot just to check up on him. One of those times, somehow Conner was laying sideways in the bassinet instead of long ways. His little face was all smooched up in the side. He was absolutely fine, but I never used it again. We are trying for baby number 2 now, and I don't think I will use it this time either.

I say do what works out best for you and your baby....personally i plan on using a bassinet so I can keep him in my room, because I am breast feeding, and I will probably keep him there until he starts to sleep all night or is just waking up once....for me, I feel more secure with him being so close to me, I can just wake up and roll over and check on him ( I have a severe case of SID's paranoia, I was the same way with my daugter who is now 5...I still wake up and check on her 1-2 every night.)

Okay, honestly, I went out and bought everything I possibly could, but when it comes down to it, you will discover what works best for your baby. Mine HATED the bassinet and pretty much only slept in his carseat from day one. His Dr. also recommended the carseat because he was a spitter and he was just upright enough. He also felt snug and secure in there. After awhile we tried the crib, but found that he preferred the playen, which they have really nice ones by the way, they even make them with gentle virations. If you can get yours to sleep in a crib from day one that's awesome! I just had a really fussy baby and he was colicky.

My daughter is 14 months. She was in her own room in a crib from day 1. I feel that it is important to establish that the baby's room is their room from the beginning. We had an Angel Care monitor, so that helped to give us peace of mind. We're expecting #2 in less than 8 months, and I know we'll do the same.

its sad but true. my son is five months and is still is sleeping in our romm in the playpen. he has a crib in his room but ive become so attached. he has slept in his room a couple of times but i ended up bringing him in my room. if you want your baby to feel snug buy one those swaddle me blankets. you can look on babies r us.com to see what im talking about. just remember do not put your baby on his/her stomach.

I'm broke and the average cost of a crib around here were I live is about $400.00 and up. i'm going for the bassinet for now-then when I come back form maternity leave-it's on. There will be a nice crib purchased!
