Be careful, i have heard stories about taking castor oil. i have been told it gives ou diarrhea and could possible send you into labor while your still haveing diarrhea and you make a total mess during delivery. Everyone is differnt though, maybe it won't do that to you. keep us updated....good luck

My friend tried castor oil to try and induce labor. She said all that happened to her was that she ended up with really bad diarrhea.

with my first pregnancy my doctor told me to take 2 tablespoons of castor oil to help put me in labor. I did it and it worked....that night I went into labor. But when my baby was born he had mechonium (he pooped in the womb and swallowed it) and they had to get it out of his lungs so he could breathe. I dont know why my doc told me to take castor oil but I will never do it again because the doctor I had with this pregnancy says it is bad, and could be the reason he had a bowel movement to early. I really would not recomennd taking it....just wait I know it is hard. Just walk and have sex that will help.

I drank alot of raspberry tea because I found on the internet that was one of the things that could bring on labor. I am not sure whether or not it help me deliver any sooner but I do know that it brought on some major contractions.

It is a complete wives tale... my sister did it and was throwing up constantly. It really isnt safe most doctors will tell you no let nature take its course.

Hey girl just try eating lots of pineapple do it like that I hear that castor oil can harm the baby! Or this may sound silly but I was reading up on it that if you put your palms over the aerola of your nipple and massage in a circular motion for about 15 minutes every hour that it releases the natural form of pitocin, and that it will start labor. I mean its not like it can hurt anything. Go and google it, it will give you all the details!

I tried the whole castor oil bit, actually we bought it at a health food store and it came in a very small bottle so I drank it all. I was up all night and didn't go into labor, but since I was scheduled for an induction aa day later I was nice and cleaned out during delivery which was great! But it was not fun, probably won't let myself get that deperate again! It worked for my mom 3 times!

It's not really an old wives tale completely. The point of the caster oil is to stimulate your bowls which is thought to bring on contractions. Yes, it will make you poo like never before but it is releasing natural chemicals in your body. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It is a risky thing though because your baby could have a bowl movement and that is not good.

hi i was due today and as i have had so many problems with my kidneys they tried to do a sweep monday, but they couldn't reach my cervix. I asked a friend about natural ways and she suggested castor oil, pineapple, sex and spicy food. I have tried all of these and nothing has worked. Im just going to leave it up to mother nature now as you get your hopes up and still nothing. Be careful with castor oil as it can make the baby poo which can be harmful to her/him and you wouldn't want to be pooing yourself all through labour!!!!!!!!!! Believe me it does happen after taking castor oil.
