Missmara,
Is your 7 month old crawling yet? Anika hasn't started yet. So far she only gets on her hand and knees and rocks back and forth, and sometimes if there's something out of reach she'll pull herself forward with her arms but let her legs just drag behind her! lol....

bmes,

speaking of crawling...my son actually started pulling himself up and walking before crawling. Once he realized he could crawl he stopped walking. But by 1 year he was doing it all.

Lol! She just started last week. She was rocking on her hands and knees since Thanksgiving. I kept telling people she was going to crawl anyday and then she didn't! But one day, she just took off and OMG, things are crazy now! She's already pullling herself up on things. This morning when I woke up she was standing in her crib!! Don't worry, you'll be chasing after Anika in no time!!

all kids are differend I wouldn't worry too much. My son crawled when he was only 4 months old and walked when he was 7 months. I didn't ahve any other kids around to compair him to so I though that was when kids were supposed to do those things LOL Now with this baby I am going to be like dang what is taking you so long :)

Yeah - they're all different. Sophie held her head up in the delivery room and the doctor was like Whoa!! She held it up strong ever since, and I just thought it was normal. Now when I hold other infants, I'm like oh - she doesn't hold her head up?? It's really hard not to compare, especially when they're your own!

My son when he was born was able to hold his head up in the hospital as well. Apparently all the gymnastics he did during pregnancy help out. But yeah his doctor was also shocked at how strong he was.

ya Jeremiah was like that too. He came out eyes wide open lifting his head up and turning it form side to side. the doc was like we have a strong one. I said your tellen me he wasn't kicking the crap out of you

Yeah I kept telling my doctor that I swear my son has run out of room because he was constantly kicking me in the ribs. He told me "Oh by the time he drops he won't kick you in the ribs anymore." So I waited and I waited and I waited. My son was born via c-section and when the doctor deliveried him he was like, "Yeah he was cramped in there." Yeah you think....I didn't have bruises for nothing.

Anika could hold her head up too right from the very beginning, and at about less than 2 months old she could bear weight on her legs which i read somewhere that that doesn't happen till a little later, so i thought, oh she's gonna be one of these ones that goes right from nothing to walking....

But actually right after i asked this question, I was watching her play on the ground and she actually crawled for real for about 3 or four strides then fell. LOL.....it was so cute...yay...hopefully soon she'll be rippin' around!!! then she can scare and torture my dumb cat!!! lol

I see it this way - If she isn't walking, potty trained and off the bottle by college, then we have a problem!!

Oh - Sophie's favorite thing to do now that she's crawling is to chase the cats. It's so funny!! She starts panting and squealing, and then just scrambles after them. And that's how she started too - a few strides and fall, a few more strides and fall. Then all of a sudden, I turned around and she had disappeared down the hall. It scared the crap out of me!!

when she started to get up on her hands and knees and rock, we started to baby proof the house. we moved hubby's office so she can't get into all his papers, we bought the gates for the stairs, the little plug in things so she can't stick her fingers in anything.....tomorrow we're getting this new coffee table, that almost looks more like a foot stool so it's cushiony if she bashes her head into it!! LOL....i just don't know what to do with our fireplace. it's a gas one, but on the top and bottom of the glass part, there's these brass bar thingys and there's spaces in between them and she already tries to put her fingers through the slots and the back of these bars are kind of sharp and she could snag her finger in there. she loves going over there cause she can see her reflection in the brass!! what should i do about this?

My daughter is 2 1/2 and she fuses to potty train but that is the only thing we have had "struggles" with. I see she still has time before school and she hates her diaper wet or poopy so maybe soon lol

bmes the problem with kids is that no matter how much baby proofing you do they will still find a way to hurt them selves. Sometimes it takes getting a little ouchie before they realize that something is off limits. Just when you see her get close pull her away and tell her that she will get hurt. Hopefully she will get it with out hurting her self first, but God made kids pretty durable so as long as you have all of the major dangers taken care of you will be fine.

They have gates to go around fireplaces but they are pretty pricey. Maybe go to a local baby store if you have one and see what they have to offer as far as childproofing a fireplace.

Yeah we tried the whole your going to get an ouchie if your touch grandpa and grandma's fire place and well he decided that he was going to touch it anyways. But like Jill said no matter what you do to childproof your house your child will still manage to get hurt. Especially when they start to walk because of the whole balance thing. My son is 2 1/2 and still manages to fall over his own feet. I don't think there is a week that goes by that we don't have at least one bump or bruise somewhere on his body.

i know she's gonna get hurt...al kids do...it's all a part of learning, but our house was NOT baby friendly at all!!! its a bit better now though!! :-)

I sowre that jeremiah was going to have a perminate bump on his forhead. the kid ran into everything full speed. One time when he was 2 he was running up and down the hall and he smacked into the corner of the wall. I was in the bathroom and jsut heard the thud. I waiting for the cry and it was dead silent. I ran into the hall and here he was passed out with blood all over his face. I started screaming and my dad came running upstairs. By then Jeremiah had woke up, but he still had to get 5 stitches in his forhead right between his eyes. weeks later he had to get them in the exact same place. He still has a bump in that spot LOL

OMG...Yeah I think I would have screamed as well. I had an incident with Ethan where I ran upstairs and on my way down I heard a thump and then crying. I ran downstair to see my son lying on the kitchen floor. I don't know what had exactly happened but when I picked him up he was bleeding. I completely freaked out. When he fell he hit his mouth and broke the skin in his mouth on his teeth and he also bit his tongue At first I thought it was his nose because their was so much blood and then when I realized it wasn't his nose then I searched for a tooth he might have knocked out but nope. There was also the time that he decided to stand in the bathtub and I told him to sit down before he got hurt. Well he ended up slipping and hitting his chin on the side of the tub and biting his tongue.
