Denise, Lite cramping and discomfort is normal, Espesially being your first pregnancy. What the doctors will ask you is if you have other symtoms other then that for there to be something to worry about. Like spotting, or heavy bleeding. If you have bleeding of any kind while cramping, you should see your doctor right away.
But you are going to cramp, because everything is being relocated inside you. You will feel like a tightening feeling in your lower abdomin and your sides. If you are not bleeding I would say not to worry, everything is just fine.

Hi Denise! My names Lauren. Im in my second month now. I also experienced cramping in my first month, it wasn't all light cramping either. Sometimes i would have sharp pains, that lasted a short period of time, but still scared the crap outa me. I spoke to a doctor, and she said this is normal. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it happens to A LOT of women. Just stay calm, roll through the cramps, i promise they wont last forever, i'd be a nervous wreck if they did. Watch for bleeding though, i hate saying this but we all know it, first trimester your in the highest risk for miscarriage. If your not bleeding though, just go to the doctor and get your checkups, but dont panic, this is NORMAL. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
