well i went to the specialist yesterday and had my ultra sound and he told me that the contractions aren't thinning me out so not to worry about them....
also told me that the baby is still breech and that he had the cord wrapped around his neck which could very well keep him from ever turning head down...nice huh?
then i went in for my gestational diabetes test today and they told me that the highest they want my number is 130ish and mine was 156. so tomorrow i have to go to the hospital and have the 3 hour test done but they told me that its pretty much a sure thing that i have it.
i swear this pregnancy has just been one thing after another. if it can go wrong it has!!!!! luckily im in the last trimester and i don't have that much longer to go or i think i would go crazy!
does any else have gestational diabetes? what all will happen with me and the baby if i do i have it? sinse i prolly do.

I had GD with Noah and I probably will with this one too. I had to check my sugars five times a day. I was able to control it just by diet, but if you can control it by diet they can put you on insulin. It can cause your baby to be big and it can cause a few other scarier things as well. When I found out I had it I looked all over the internet for anything I could find on it and just freaked myself out. I suggest doing the three hour and then talking to your doctor about it if you have it before you look up info on the internet and scare yourself silly. When I went for the one hour and the three hour with Noah, my levels were around 250. I just kept my sugars under control and was fine. Noah wasn't big at all... he only weighed 6 lbs 13 oz and he was perfectly healthy!

The real key is to eat in moderation. You'll have to watch your carbs. Protein is good. Things like potatoes, pasta, junk food... not so good. You'll have to watch the label on everything. I bought canned fruit and had to watch the syrup it was packaged in. I wasn't told i couldn't eat things, I was just told to eat in moderation... they gave me a certain # of carbs I could eat a day and not to go over it.

well that doesn't sound too bad....before i got pregnant i was a big calorie counter....i had lost about 60lbs by counting calories and light exercize so really keeping track of carbs shouldn't be that much harder should it?

I had it. I think the worst part is having to poke yourself 4-5 times a day to test your sugar. The eating part wasn't that hard, except towards the end. I'm a big sugar addict and it went ok for the first couple months and by the end of my pregnancy all I wanted was cake and I don't even normally like cake. So I kept eating sugary foods, but I ate a piece of cake instead of eating my healthy carb choices, which is probably not good but (I only did that for about a week or two)everything came out fine.

well i had my 3 hour gd test today.....my gosh did that suck lol! after it was all over i asked the lab tech how my numbers looked. she said that they weren't really high, that they were pretty good actually. but then she told me what my numbers should be and then what mine were and they were still higher than the first numbers. so i don't know......i wont find anything out until monday when they doctor's office is open again. so this weekend i'm trying not to worry about it anymore and i'm enjoying all of my fav foods that might be taken away from me on monday....i know thats prolly not right but it's the only thing keeping me from being really depressed. well thanks for everyones concern.

has anyone else had high number on the one hour test and then came back normal on the 3hr test?
