ok i don't know if anyone is on right now but i could use some advice....i am 27+2 weeks pregnant....last night i started having sever back pain and some contraction ,about 2 an hour. i've been having contractions sinse i was 19 weeks and they have been checking me regularly and i've dilated or anything so the doctors told me that i should just take it very easy, drink a ton of water, and call them if i have more than 4 hour or any strange discharge. so last night i just tried to go to bed. the pain was so bad it took quiet awhile to get to sleep and then the pain woke me several times during the night...at one point i was just sitting there in the bed crying feel sick at my stomach because the pain in my back was so bad......well now this morning the pain is better but still there...my back hurts quiet a bit but it's more of a sore pain then the kind of breath taking pain i was having last night and my stomach just feel kinda sore but i haven't had any contractions sinse about 3am....

now here is the question, normally i would call the doctor and go and checked out but we don't have very much gas in our car and no money to buy anymore. if i go to the doctor today by husband will have to borrow money off a cowork if he can find one to loan it too him so that he is able to get back and forth to work the rest of the week. i would hate to do all of this just to go to doctor and him tell me that things are the same as they have been and to go home.....what should i do? i go to the doctor a week from today....can i wait that long? i don't know what to do....i hate to use the last of the gas just to be told that the contractions still aren't doing anything and to go home....help please.

I would call the doctor and let them know how your night went. Then let them know you can't afford to make it in to their office if they don't feel it is an emergency. Keep your appointment for next week and plan to go then, but give them a call for the heads up, and keep an eye on how things continue to go. It may not be the best advice, but it's all I've got.

thanks automansgirl....sometimes it just helps to have someone else tell you what they think

No problem. I know it is sometimes easier said than done, but I would at least give them a call. My doc's office is pretty good about not making me come in when something isn't quite right. I've only had to call a couple of times, but the only time they made me come in was when I had severe food poisoning a couple of weeks ago. I hope the contractions stay away!

Are they Braxton Hicks contractions? I'm 28-weeks, and I get bad backache sometimes, and I also get BH contractions. But not as bad as you seem to get it, so if I were you, I'd push the issue with my doctor.

Perhaps you should phone your doctor; is there a community midwife who may be able to come out to visit you?

I would definately call you doctor. Braxton Hicks contraction are usually only in your stomach but not to say that there isn't a chance that you couldn't feel them in your back. The good news is that they are less painful but still nothing to full around with.
