Ok I don't know why I have been thinking this, but I can say that after having both kendra and Jeremiah (10 yrs ago) I think that doctors tend to speed things up too much. With jeremiah my contractions started on their own and were about 4min apart when I went to the hospital. I was making progress ok, but they still broke my water and added pitocin. After that labor pains were unbearable. and I still didn't dialate at a faster rate then I already was. With kendra my water broke on its own and I was having contractions, but they were not a frequent as they wanted so again i was given pitocin and again labor pains started to go off the charts, but I was still not progressing any more quickly. That ended in an emergency c section due to the cord being around her neck. The female doctor at my OBGYN's gave me the option of being induce and I was only 38weeks 4 days so I didn't see the need. They did think that she was going to be large even though she was only 6lbs 7oz when she came on her own at 39 weeks. I just think that if I had another child I would try a less managed approch. It is normal for women to not deliver for 24+ hours after water breaks or to be in labor 24+ hrs with out water breaking. I know it is tiresome, but all of the extra crap they do is just as bad. I know am of the mind that drugs to speed up contractions and breaking the water sac should be done as a last resort to a long labor instead of as standard procedure. What are your thoughts? Have they changed since giving birth at all?

Hi Jill!! I agree. I had pitocin with both deliveries, and what bothers me the most about it is you're stuck in bed. I think if you could walk more it would be better cause that helps the cervix thin and dilate.

And...I just wanted to tell you how great the breastfeeding is going. Zoe is gaining an ounce a day and I haven't had to supplement at all yet. I've started to go to a breastfeeding support group and I've gotten my hubby and mil to be really encouraging and supportive. I pump about twice a day after feedings that are short. I would pump more but with Sophie still needing a lot of attention it's just not feasible. So...that's the scoop here. I thought you would want to know how it's going:)

ONg that is so great. I am sure that since it has worked this long it will keep going well. I guess it is true about the whole breastfeeding the second child thing. I guess the milk ducts really do re-grow some how. I am so glad that it is working for you. Formula sucks!!
