my doctor encouraged me to use evening of primose oil supplements at 35 weeks. it helps the cervix and uterus get ready for labor. it doesn't make you have contractions or anything but when you do have them, your uterus and cervix work more efficiently. also i heard cumin tea, pineapple, eggplant parm, and supposedly there's this restaurant in l.a. that has a salad on their menu that guarantees a pregnant woman to go into labor in 24 hours or your money back! lol

well no where near l.a. but i have heard of that salad as well. i will have to look into the primrose oil and i think i am going to start squatting. i know they consider 37 weeks full term but really things are usually fine from 35 weeks on. i love my little guy so much and i want him to be super healthy but i am very uncomfortable and want to feel normal again.

yea the primrose oil is perfectly safe at this point. i wouldn't try any of the other things until at least 37 weeks

I drank the Raspberry Leaf Tea with my son. Which may have actually have been the reason that when I went into actually labor I did not feel anything until they broke my water. However, I am a true believe that nothing will cause you to go into actually labor unless your body is ready to go into labor. You may experience contaction with thing such as walking, nipple stimulation and sex but this does not necessarily make these contactions real which is what you actually need in order to be considered in labor.

I fully understand where you are coming from, but I still think that 35 weeks is too early. The dr's dates can be off and babies can still not devloped enough surfactant to lube up the lungs. I would try to hold off at least 1-2 more weeks. I am also of the mind that if the baby is not ready nothing short of medical intervention is going to make him come out. Another problem with inducing labor is that many women have failure to progress and end up with a c section. I don't think that any of the natural stuff can do that though.

I drank the Rasberry tea from 36 weeks on and I believe that it helped efface my cervix. At my 1st 37 week vaginal exam, I was already 70% effaced and kept progreesing from there. Sex also totally worked for me. I went in for my 39 week checkup and was 1.5 cm dilated and 90% effaced. The next morning I woke up w/ contractions and bloody show and Michael and I had sex which I think totally moved things along. Needless to say when I went to the dr. that same morning I was 4cm dilated and 95% effaced. I gave birth to mylittle girl at 10:22 pm that night.

I was the same way...and i tried castor oil 2 times and it got me dialated a little bit but the hospital kept stopping it because i was only 35 weeks. And i kept trying and trying, finally my Dr stripped my membranes at 37 weeks, and then i walked, did nipple stimulation with a breast pump, tried castor oil and took another laxitive and that got it going..but when i got the epidural it stopped so they had to break my water and give me pitocin...i don't regret doing everything i did, because yeah i was miserable..but it was a lot of work..rarely is it as easy as you hear about from the women who say they tried something and two hours later they were in labor...
