so my family doctor isn't an ob, so he set me up with this other doctor who isn't an ob either, but apparently shes delivered alot of babies and she also deals with gynocology... i've never been to a gynocologist before and dont really want her poking at me, i'm super scared because i have an appointment tomorrow to have and internal exam and a pap done... not sure what to expect and the unfortunate part is that i have to go alone :(

I'm not sure if I understood right, but if you've never had a pap here's the procedure:
It is really no big deal if you don't think about it to much, and breath. Just try to imagine they're working on your arm, or your ear, or your throat. To a doctor it's all the same. They will have you lay down and put your feet in stirrups and drape a sheet across your lower half, so they can see you, but you can't really see what they're doing down there - which I think is all the better, and then they will put a speculum (looks like two little plastic popsicle sticks the they will stick in and then when they open the speculum they seperate and hold your vagina open just an inch or two. like a backwards vice almost.) inside your so they can see. It doesn't hurt, it will feel about the same amount of pressure as putting in one of the super duper tampons. They will then just rub a cotton swab and little bristle brush (looks like a soft pipe cleaner) on your cervix and you're done. The cotton swab is for STD and infection culture, and the bristle brush is for pre-cancerous cells test. You will probably be able to feel the bristle brush but it doesn't hurt, it just feels extrememly wierd because you've probably never had something like that touching your cervix before. They may also put one gloved finger in and feel around a bit to make sure that they can't feel anything abnormal, some doctors skip that part, it all depends. Just remember that NONE of it hurts, and to the doctor it's just like looking in your ear. I'm only 5 weeks pregnant and I've already had to have 3 done, so trust me, you will get used to it. Hope that description helps some - I know if you've never had one it might not have made much sense, but don't worry about it. The whole thing only takes literally 1 minute, they are in and out of there before you know it.

you're welcome. i know it can be scary when you don't know what's going on. this is my first pregnancy, so i'm unfamiliar with all the tests they'll be doing - and i'm nervous. I like knowing what's going on also.
