actually what determines if you have a boy or a girl is the sperm.. not time of ovulation, or time of day.. or your age.. or sex position....so the chances of you having a boy or a girl are 50/50. that's how human biology works.

Tiffanie,
My grandmother swore to having sex before ovulation for a girl and if you want a boy, to have sex on the day of. Then years later a friend told me that she had a 'theory' and it was the same thing. When I asked her why she said that she and her Catholic friends' that didn't use birth control used a method to tell when they were ovulating and that this is what they figured out by their experiences. She asked me some questions and then told me that I probably was going to have a girl, and she is right! lol.
Read the topic that's titled "should I keep trying until I get my little girl. There is a woman on there that sounds like what my friend said to me and she explained it well I think.
My friend said that the reason there is more girls in the world then boys is because women get horney before they ovulate and couples just can't wait and so they go at it and then when they get pregnant it's a girl because it was before ovulation, lol. btw, I noticed she had all girls.

To sara,
what if your dumb like me and has never known when I have ovulated?
and, well, Im ashamed to say this but Jacinta from that post you just said, 'should i keep trying untill i get my little girl' well thats me, How sad huh, i was too ashamed to tell everyone it was me just incase you all thought i was being selfish wanting a girl this bad and not being hapy with what God blesses me with.
anyway I feel better that I let that out cause keeping it from everyone was eating me away, Im not much of a liar :-(

lol sara!
I guess if we think about it this way, we can tell something about people's sex lives by the gender of their children. lol

If you have sex before ovulation your chances of conceiving a girl are greater. There have been studies done that support this. But it isn't a promise. It's just that your chances are higher. I don't know by how much.

I find it interesting that your grandma told you of this. Was she old? My grandma wouldn't have a clue I don't think. lol. Put she is a pretty young grandma (must be if she is still alive now at my decrepit age of 30 something.)

For more info on when you ovulate, check into NFP methods. (This is probably why your Catholic friends knew about this)

Hi Irene!
I don't think you are selfish for wanting a girl, not at all.

And I have no doubt that you WILL be happy with whatever God blesses you with. But you know that already don't you? ( ;

awww Thank you Chris, Thank you so much, your right there on Ill be happy with whatever God gives me, I have 3 gorgeous sons now and i wouldnt trade them for 10 girls, I already have name picked out, (Christian)
Im just believing that Im having a son so If God blesses us with a daughter than That will be a bonus also..
Lol if only I could work out when I ovulated, I counted back 14/16 days from when I was expectring my period which was Jan 10th, I actully get them 10th of every month, so that means I ovulated 27th December,
oh I dont know, I should just wait lol, My hubby and Mother find out April 25, I personally dont want to know,
Thanks Chris..

oh and one final say here.

It really bothers me when women say that are 'too dumb' to know when they are ovulating. It isn't being dumb at all! Being kept in the dark about things is not your fault unless you choose to be kept in the dark. But almost all women do not make that choice. We are just never given the proper information about our own bodies...and this pisses me off as a woman!

Unfortunately most of us women are not aware that we are being kept in the dark. We are taught 'sex education' in school, and are told that we are given thorough information. We are taught about the pill, the IUD, condoms, etc, what have you, even abortion! And we are told that these are the ways we have to choose to be 'responsible' and 'in control'.

But never ever are we taught Nature's way of true control of our reproduction. We are taught that the only way to control our reproduction is by medically changing our bodies to do unnatural things! Well what the h*ll do we expect is going to happen by doing this?!

We chemically alter our bodies, and our bodies are going to balk at us. It doesn't surprise me one bit that more and more women are having fertility problems. The percentages are higher now then they have been in history and have been steadily inclining since the 1960's.

And our doctors don't care. Because they are taught the ways of women's bodies, and they do not share that information with us. And I for one was told that the natural way was an old outdated catholic rythem method. Well even the catholics aren't using that way anymore, but that is the only NFP method that is being mentioned in schools.

So Irene, I do not think you dumb. I just think that you have been deceived and the truth withheld from you, just like the rest of us women.

And it is up to us to inform other women. For no one else seems to care about our bodies unless they can make some money off of it.

(sorry, didn't mean to lecture, but it really does piss me off. )

Irene, glad you are keeping the sex a mystery for you. I hope your mother and hubby can keep from letting it slip out.

I myself am keeping mine a secret too, I did the first time, and I think it gives me extra strength to push, lol,

Curiousity can be a source of strength to a laboring woman.

Take my hat off to you Chris, that was very said, taht was actully pretty dumb thing i said anyway and I admit to it as well,
after I posted it i felt pretty Foolish for even writing it lol,
so anyway don't worry, sometimes us girls need lectures, so we can snap out of it!
anyway I remember over Xmas I had morning sickness, so therefore I must of concieved after I had my period, who knows Lol, I cant remember, If we were really planning it we would of written down dates, we planned for baby last year but nothing was happening so Hubby decided to give up and leave it Gods hands and guess what lol.....
Im pregnante,

God's hands are best Irene, they are best.
You know that the child you are carrying is part of His plan, male or female, and He has His reasons which are always for our good.

Sperm that carry the male chromo swim faster but the females live longer - so it's possible that if you have sex near to ovulation then the male sperm will make it to the egg quicker than the female ones. If you were to have sex a few days before ovulation then females may have survived long enough to fertilise the egg and make the baby female. However, it's such a hit and miss process that I don't think it would prove effective in deciding the sex of the baby. You could always try it and see.

Well I will let you all know if this theory works because I'm 6 weeks pregnant and my husband and I had sex 5 days before ovulation this time(not trying to get pregnant but it happened) . I know with my two boys we had sex the day before and the day of ovulation. I hope it does work I would love to have a girl..
