So Jeremiah's school called me today to let me know that there had been an "icident" in the rest foom and jeremiah fell and hit his head. "it is not big deal" they jsut wanted to let me know. Well of course I ask what had happened and the lady tells me "oh the school will fill out an incident report that will be sent home with jeremiah. I ask her again if it was like a slip and fall or if it involved other children. Again this woman plays dumb and says that it will all be included in the report. At that point I ahd her put jeremiah on the phone. I ask him what had occured and he told me that while he was in the bathroom getting ready to walk up to the stall that a kid pulled his shoulders back and he fell and hit his head on the wall. Ok so I hang up. About 3 min later the school calls back and tells me that the nurse examined jeremiah and thinks that he need to go home becuase the bump is still swelling even with ice on it. So I had to leave work and go get him. that normally wouldn't be a big deal, but I have been working about an hour out of town this week at another hospital location. Anyway I get to the school and they tell me that the boy who did this has an aid that is supposed to be with him at all times becuase he has behavior issues and some other "issues" they can't discuss. Well needless to say this aid was not with the kid when they were in the bathroom even though he is supposed to be. The school was acting like there should be no punishment for this other child since he has "issues" well let me tell you I don't give a flying shit about his "issues" I do care that becuase he can't control him self and the staff that is being paid to supervise him can't do their jon that I now have an injured child. So I geve them a piece of my mind and took jeremiah to the hospital for a CT. He is cool he has a mild concusion and a big ass know on the back of his head. I am having the hospital submit the bill to his school.

You should request that the principal issue a report about the aide, and the aide's supervisor. They need to keep a paper trail of stuff like that or it gets forgotten. I'm glad your son is okay.

I'd be soo pissed too. "It'll be in the incident report". Jesus what was that lady's problem. It's your child she should've been giving you all of the information off the bat. And that there is no punishment for the other kid...these are the times i think homeschooling is not looking so bad

This is his frist year in a public school (he is in 4th grade) I have always tought him to be nice to everyone and to walk away form trouble, but if the school is going to do nothing then I really have no choice but to tell him to defend him self. I am aganist fighting, but sometimes there is just no other choice in the matter. The prinicpal even said "well really he is doing much better. this is his frist real injury this year" WTF so he must have a history.

With my temper... your son's school would have been closed down by now. That would have pissed me off so bad. I would definately report the aide. Technically, its his fault because it wouldnt have happened if he had been doing his job. I dred the days my little girl goes to school. I just hope she's the little girl that never gets in trouble lol.

I think that part of the problem is that there are soooo many kids diagnosed with ADHD or behavior issues that people start to think that they "can't" control them selves, but I think that the issue is that they are not held accountable. They get to blame their bad behavior on their disorder and so do the parents and the school. I have never had to deal with this before because Jeremiah was always in a private school that was very strict. I understand that public schools have to accept a certain percent of these types of kids, but at some point the health and well being of the other students needs to become a priority in they can't keep the certain few under control.

I agree. I think ADHD is just a way for parents to account for their childrens behavior. I think its a very over-diagnosed disease, and possibly not even a disease at all -

This other child should absolutely be given some sort of consequence, as well as the adults that were responsible for his whereabouts at that time period.

I do have to object though to the comment about fat, lazy, overpaid teachers. Being a teacher myself, I have to laugh especially about the overpaid part. Most of the teachers out there are in the profession because they absolutely love what they do, and they work their butts off doing it. The pay is rediculous. Many teachers have to get a second job just to pay the bils. Teaching is not for the lazy or for anyone interested in getting rich. And those that think it's an easy job don't stay around more than a year or two.

Sorry - those of you who know me know that I never jump in like this, but I was really offended by that statement.
