hi everyone! i'm 13 weeks pregnant with my first child and i believe i'm already experiencing round ligament pain. They feel like my ab muscles are being stretched longwise. sometimes it's a constant, dull pain, and others it's a sudden sharp pain. i'm pretty sure they're round ligament pains because i haven't felt any other cramps or pains in my belly previous to this.
is it too early to be experiencing these pains? does it mean i'm going to start showing soon? sorry for all the rapid fire questions but it's my first pregnancy and i'll be the first to tell you that i don't know everything.

thanks!

I don't think it's to early spanky. I was told that it is actually the hormones themselves that cause the pain, because they loosen the ligaments and cause them to work less effectivly - not just the stretching itself. So even women who are weeks away from showing can experience it. I think I've started to have a little of it already in my hip area, and I'm only 1 month and 1 week along.

At some point in your pregnancy too, your abdominal muscles will actually separate along your middle, lengthwise. When that happened to me, one of my muscles 'tore' and I experienced a lovely burning pain in that muscle. So you still have that to look forward to. :)

And you sound perfectly normal (not that there's much 'normal' in pregnancy). Get used to it now, your body is no longer your own. It's only gonna get stranger....

With my first pregnancy I think I was about 12 or 13 weeks when I had this happen. I was actually on the phone with my doctor because I had no clue what was going on. So no it's not to early. Although every woman is different usually with you first pregnancy the average person starts showing sometime during their fourth month. It won't look like you pregnant (infact, I got so depressed untill my belly started rounding out) but no matter how you think you look, just remember you pregnant and before you know it your belly will round out.

I'm now pregnant with my second and started showing about 10 weeks.
