you have to change his rate of breathing, babies and puppies get them all the time

I don't think I've ever known any way to get a baby to stop hiccuping. I was gonna say eat a spoon full of sugar, but that would be for you, not him. Sorry I wasn't of any help!

Found this on a web site....

I believe that people, especially babies, get hiccups from becoming chilled. If you see a baby with hiccups notice if they seem underdressed for the enviornment. In my experience it is a sign that the person needs to get warmer. Try bundling up and watch the hiccups disappear as your temperature rises - and let’s dress the babies appropriately - feet included!!!!!

Don't know if it's true, but I also just read to burp them?

my MIL said she used to dip her finger in water and then in sugar and let them suck on it, that it worked, im tempted to try. but she also told me she used to give her son water in between feedings b.c he was still hngry.. i didnt know you could give babies watr, nor am i going to, but i thought that was weird. and he gets them when he burps after feeding lol

My mom used to give sugar water between feedings. My nieces pediatrician still recommends it. Guess it's good for 'em!

i notice he sneezes alot too lol but i read thats normal in newborns/infants

Ya, especially with all the pollen and dust in the air. I sneeze too! Hopefully you can help him with his hiccups. I don't think they hurt when you're a baby, but it can be annoying if it's waking him up.

I have no clue what to do with hiccups. Kylie gets them every single time after she eats. And like you said sneezing is very common. As for the sugar water I am not sure. I have been told both with Ethan and Kylie that breastmilk or formula was all they needed that they were getting enough water from that.

Hiccups and sneezing are very common in newborns. The hiccups don't bother them the way they bother us, so there's really no reason to make them stop. Sophie still gets the hiccups almost everyday, but now she gets them when she laughs really hard, but then again I get them too when I laugh!

I dip Kadens soother in gripe water. It usually does the trick. Hiccups don't bother babies though.

Sarah gets them really bad too...and a lot of times she'll hiccup so hard she spits up. The only thing I've seen that they say could help is trying to get them to drink a couple sips of breastmilk or water -- a tiny bit of sugar water would probably work for this too. I think it used to be pretty common to give sugar water in between feedings, but now they say all they need is the breastmilk or formula

also in my culture this is said to work, and i've tried it and sometimes it does, but i say it's just coincidence. Put a piece of red thread on their forehead. just get a small piece and make it into a little ball in your mouth and stick it to their foreheads. it's said to make the hiccuping stop. I know it sounds strange, but if you're that desperate...= )

ya your allowed to give babies water, but normally they get enough from the breast milk or from formula, and they said if the babies poop becomes more solid, then give him some more water in his diet, i learned that in one of my classes
