I am 18 and have anorexia and my parents have pushed me through treatment. The number one thing you can do is to treat her the same as you always do. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE see your daughter when you look at her, not the eating disorder. It is a part of her but it is not HER. Just try to be understanding. My eating disorder is my best friend- it's hard (if not impossible) to get rid of it; your daughter is prbably the same way. i dont know if this helps, but im here if you or she wants to talk. ↑ |
| Im also 17. Ive been bulimic for four years... I just wish my parents caught on when I was younger... I am just now stoping my ED because I found a factor worth staying for... Explain what will happen, that shell die, shell never have kids, get married. DONT put her in a rehab place!!!! itll make her transfer to bulimia.... You need to keep it in the family, try telling grandma and grandpa or someone that is really important to her.. It will reall get to her... Make her a really healthy diet plan, tell her to go vegetarian so she wont be in fear of getting fat... vegatarian is perfectly healthy if you give her vitamens and minerals, you can get protien in other ways like shakes, which she will love if shes anorexic...... I pray for your daughter to not be in as deep as me.. ↑ |

my parents found out about my Bulimia a few weeks ago now. And i know all my family know cus my mom has confided in them.
It's been tough the las few weeks but i have only slipped up once or twice so that's OK.
The best way is to do what is best for your daughter. Are you close?
My Mom said basically
'Lucie I know whats been going on and it's all fitting together now, how you are eating loads and not putting on weight, how you sprayed perfume evrywhere to disguise the smell blah blah blah.'
It could have been so much worse but she hasn't forced me to do anything she basically let me know that she knew and that was enough for me.
